Job Description


A well-known and respected medium-sized Assurance, Accounting, and Consultancy firm is searching for an experienced accounting and bookkeeping professional to join their ranks at their offices in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town.The candidate will be responsible for the bookkeeping and accounting of a portfolio of clients. This includes capturing the accounting records on Xero or Pastel, maintaining payroll, submitting VAT and employee tax returns, attending to correspondence with SARS, invoicing / billing clients for services rendered and other miscellaneous responsibilities.The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years accounting and finance experience, and completion of SAIPA, SAICA or CIMA articles is a benefit, though candidates with the relevant experience in a practice environment will also be considered. A candidate with the intention of a long-term commitment would be viewed favourably.Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Full bookkeeping and accounting function up to trial balance, including debtors, creditors, bank, petty cash, journals, etc. xe2x80x93 PASTEL & XERO.
  • Handling of VAT and PAYE reviews.
  • Invoicing and debtorsxe2x80x99 collection.
  • IRP5 calculations, reconciliations and submissions.
  • Maintenance of SARS accounts.
  • SARS queries and correspondence.
  • Xero and Pastel Accounting support.
  • PAYE/UIF/SDL calculations and EMP201 submissions.
  • EMP501/IRP5 reconciliations (Easyfile).
  • Payroll.
  • Registration and deregistration for Income Tax, PAYE, VAT and Import and Export licenses.
  • Tax clearance applications.
  • UIF registration and administration.
  • VAT calculations and VAT201 submissions.
  • WCA/FEM/RMA returns, registrations, submission of returns and arranging letters of good standing.
  • Administrative duties.
  • Liaison with clients.
  • Time sheet approvals.
  • Responsible for approving overtime, study leave, time-off requests, other leave requests for the relevant staff.
  • Assist with ongoing training of the SAIPA trainees within the bookkeeping environment.
  • Responsible for ensuring that up-to-date signed engagement letters are on hand for bookkeeping and payroll clients.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • The candidate must have at least an undergraduate degree in finance/accounting.
  • A postgraduate qualification in finance/accounting will count in favour of the candidate.
  • Having completed articles (either SAICA or SAIPA) will be an advantage.
  • Experience with GreatSoft, Pastel, Xero, SimplePay, Pastel Payroll, CaseWare, and eFiling.
  • Candidate must have a minimum of 4 years bookkeeping experience.
Remuneration:
  • R35,000 per month, negotiable depending on experience.
  • Discretionary bi-annual performance-based bonus.
  • Discretionary performance-based bonus linked to fee targets.
