Senior Bookkeeper - Century CityFull job descriptionJob Title: Senior BookkeeperLocation: Century CityReports to: Chief Financial Officer (CFO) / Finance ManagerJob Purpose:As the Senior Bookkeeper for our group of pre-primary schools, you will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with all accounting regulations. You will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day financial operations, including bookkeeping, financial reporting, and payroll processing, while providing guidance and support to junior bookkeeping staff.Key Responsibilities:Financial RecordkeepingMaintain and manage accurate financial records for all pre-primary schools within the group, including ledgers, journals, and financial statements.Reconcile bank statements and verify discrepancies promptly.Ensure all transactions are recorded in compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.Accounts Payable and ReceivableOversee accounts payable processes, ensuring timely payments to suppliers and vendors.Manage accounts receivable, including invoicing, tracking payments, and following up on overdue accounts.Payroll ManagementProcess payrolls for all employees accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with tax regulations and labour laws.Maintain employee records and manage related documentation.Financial ReportingPrepare monthly financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements for review by management.Assist in the annual budgeting process and monitor expenditure against budget.Audit PreparationAssist with preparing for internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and supporting information.Address audit inquiries and implement recommendations for process improvements.Team Support and OversightSupervise and provide guidance to junior bookkeeping staff, ensuring they follow best practices and assist in their professional development.Collaborate with the finance team to streamline processes and improve efficiency.Compliance and Best PracticesEnsure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and policies.Stay updated with changes in accounting standards, tax laws, and financial regulations that may impact the organization.Qualifications:Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.Experience: Minimum of 5 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably in an educational setting.Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software e.g, Xero, Dext, Syft, Sage and Microsoft Office Suite as well as Google WorkspaceCertifications: Relevant certifications e.g, Certified Bookkeeper, CPA.Skills:Attention to Detail: Strong organizational skills with a keen eye for detail to ensure accuracy and compliance.Analytical Skills: Ability to analyse financial data and generate insightful reports.Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with staff and stakeholders effectively.Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving abilities to address accounting issues and improve processes.Working Conditions:This position may require occasional overtime during peak financial periods, such as month-end and year-end closing.The role is office based.Application Process:Interested candidates should submit their resume and cover letter detailing their relevant experience to admin@vdbholdings.com .POPIA disclaimerPOPIA (Protection of Personal Information Act) will attempt to ensure the confidentiality of all applicants for this role.
