Job Description


Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably in an educational setting
  • Proficiency in accounting software e.g., Xero, Dext, Syft, Sage and Microsoft Office Suite as well as Google Workspace
  • Relevant certifications e.g., Certified Bookkeeper, CPA
  • Strong organizational skills with a keen eye for detail to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Ability to analyse financial data and generate insightful reports
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with staff and stakeholders effectively
  • Strong problem-solving abilities to address accounting issues and improve processes
Basic duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Maintain and manage accurate financial records for all pre-primary schools within the group, including ledgers, journals, and financial statements
  • Reconcile bank statements and verify discrepancies promptly
  • Ensure all transactions are recorded in compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations
  • Oversee accounts payable processes, ensuring timely payments to suppliers and vendors
  • Manage accounts receivable, including invoicing, tracking payments, and following up on overdue accounts
  • Process payrolls for all employees accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with tax regulations and labour laws
  • Maintain employee records and manage related documentation
  • Prepare monthly financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements for review by management
  • Assist in the annual budgeting process and monitor expenditure against budget
  • Assist with preparing for internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and supporting information
  • Address audit inquiries and implement recommendations for process improvements
  • Supervise and provide guidance to junior bookkeeping staff, ensuring they follow best practices and assist in their professional development
  • Collaborate with the finance team to streamline processes and improve efficienc
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and policies
  • Stay updated with changes in accounting standards, tax laws, and financial regulations that may impact the organization
