We have exciting opportunities for experienced Senior Civil Engineer with Pavement experience within the Smart Mobility Advisory Group.The candidate will be responsible for the design of all new road and rehabilitation pavement types (bituminous, concrete, gravel) and related inputs to contract documentation. The aspects of pavement design considered include pavement material investigations, pavement structural design, pavement maintenance, contract documentation and support to pavement construction teams.He/she will also be responsible for duties related to the Core (Asset Management & Pavement Engineering) AMPE representative for the AG. This includes managing and actively mentoring the AMPE team in all provinces and quality assurance of the AMPE Knowledge Group.Also actively ensures business development activities in the AMPE discipline.You will be part of a dynamic team based in South Africa at one of our main offices in either Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban or Pietermaritzburg.Main Responsibilities:Pavement condition assessment and authoring/interpretation of pavement materials investigation reports

• Structural analysis of pavement structures
• Recommendations on pavement maintenance and rehabilitation
• Report compilation on pavement assessment and design
• Preparation of technical pavement specifications for tender documentation
• Technical support to construction teams to ensure successful implementation of pavement designs.
• Successful development and implementation of Road Asset Management Projects
• Developing, managing, and delivering positive outcomes of research and development initiatives
• Support in the achievement of order and sales portfolio targets of the AG, maintaining order book levels (firm and potential) at target levels for the AG.
• Identify and analyse required resource planning, risks and costs which will result in the project meeting or exceeding the needs and expectations of the client and other external stakeholders, and the best achievable profit to RHDHV.
• Participate and/or support preparation of proposals for contracts,
• Work with junior staff to develop innovative pavement design solutions.
• Contribute to the digitalisation and innovation of the BUs service offering.
• Promote and embrace diversity and inclusion within the AG.

Minimum qualifications, skills and experience:

• BEng, BSc or BTech (Civil) Engineering
• Professional Registration with ECSA as Engineer (Pr Eng)/Technologist (Pr Tech Eng)
• Minimum 15 years post-graduate experience in the consulting engineering industry.
• Minimum 15 Years experience in the design and specification of flexible and rigid pavement layers.
• Report writing and presentation skills are essential.
• Experience on SANRAL projects/understanding of SANRAL procedures is essential.
• Proficiency in Rubicon is essential and proficiency in CNCPave is preferable.
