Hire Resole's Client is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Deal Originator to join our team in Gauteng, South Africa. The Deal Originator will be responsible for identifying, engaging, and securing financing opportunities for an Export Credit Agency (ECIC) focused on South African exports within the African continent. This role requires a proactive approach to networking and engagement with key stakeholders, including government officials, C-suite executives, and other influential figures, to originate and facilitate cross-border export credit deals. The successful candidate will possess both the technical expertise to understand and argue for financing needs and the interpersonal skills to manage high-level conversations and negotiations.Key Responsibilities:Deal Origination and Client Engagement

  • Proactively identify, develop, and manage relationships with potential clients across various sectors to originate deals supporting South African exports.
  • Engage and network with a diverse set of stakeholders, from diplomats and government representatives to senior executives and other decision-makers, to generate and facilitate deal flow.
  • Represent ECIC in relevant industry events, conferences, and interviews to promote export financing offerings.
Market Analysis and Opportunity Identification
  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis to identify market opportunities for export credit financing, specifically within sectors requiring cross-border support.
  • Partner with the BD team to create targeted engagement strategies for sourcing deals aligned with ECICs mandate, including working capital support, credit term facilitation, and investment in manufacturing capabilities.
Deal Structuring and Financial Analysis
  • Analyze financial statements and commercial data to support and structure financing proposals.
  • Work with internal teams to validate and champion proposed deals, providing clear and compelling justifications for why certain companies or deals merit financing support.
  • Coordinate the deal structure and ensure alignment with ECICs focus on reducing commercial and political risks.
Stakeholder Communication and Relationship Building
  • Act as a primary liaison between ECIC and potential clients, ensuring clear communication, expectation management, and mutual understanding of deal requirements.
  • Maintain an active communication channel with ECIC, providing regular updates on potential deals, status, and market dynamics.
BEE Compliance and Government Relations
  • Ensure that all activities are aligned with BEE compliance, considering government protocols, and adhering to ECICs objectives as a state-owned entity.
  • Collaborate with government bodies and regulatory agencies to facilitate export financing approvals and manage any related procedural matters.
Qualifications:Education: Bachelors degree in any discipline (e.g., Business, Finance, History, English, or related fields).Experience:
  • Significant experience in deal origination, specifically within export credit, working capital financing, cross-border investments, or related fields.
  • A track record of closing deals ranging from small to large scale (up to $5 million), preferably within a similar financial or export credit environment.
  • Prior experience engaging with senior-level stakeholders, especially within governmental and diplomatic circles, is a strong advantage.
Technical Skills:
  • Proven financial analysis skills, with a strong understanding of financial statements and the ability to articulate and support financing decisions effectively.
  • Ability to develop persuasive arguments for financing proposals and confidently present these to both internal and external teams.
  • Familiarity with the structure of export credit transactions, working capital financing, and investment, with an understanding of cross-border risk management.
Soft Skills:
  • Excellent networking and relationship-building capabilities, able to engage across a wide spectrum of contacts from C-suite executives to operational staff.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financing structures and deal mechanics to both financial and non-financial audiences.
  • Self-starter with a proven track record of hitting the ground running and generating immediate impact within a similar role.
