Job Description


Responsibilities:

  • General Manager Responsibilities:
  • Oversees Sales & Marketing Departments for South Africa, and Tanzania.
  • Fosters a culture of continuous learning and development among staff.
  • Adheres to the lodge Operating Standards and is a role model for Leadership Behaviours.
  • Represents both properties to the highest standard, both internally and externally.
  • Undertakes other duties and responsibilities as directed by the General Manager or Senior Management.
  • Leads in budget preparation and ensures the department operates within cost constraints.
  • Continuously monitors current and forecasted financial/business performance.
  • Sales & Marketing:
  • Develop annual Sales and Marketing Plans and objectives.
  • Research new market opportunities and develop strategies to penetrate companies likely to produce business for the hotel.
  • Negotiates, drafts, generates, and confirms group contracts.
  • Identifies and targets group clients that will generate business on behalf of the hotel.
  • Works closely with WSO offices on all sales and marketing activities.
  • Develops overseas accounts by planning and conducting international sales trips.
  • Prepares and reports on statistics useful to sales efforts.
  • Advises in negotiation to achieve maximum revenue/profit potential while satisfying client''s needs.
  • Be proactive and creative in developing sales and marketing solutions.
  • People Leadership:
  • Recruits, selects and acquaints sales department staff with the Hotels and their operations.
  • Establishes performance standards in collaboration with the relevant General Managers.
  • Manages account-based performance records and regularly reviews and forecasts.
  • Fosters a cooperative working climate conducive to maximum employee morale and productivity.
  • Conducts performance evaluations and develops individuals for future advancement.
  • Actively plans and manages the career development of every employee.
  • Organises and manages the department by company philosophy and policies.
  • Displays warmth, care, and genuine enthusiasm when dealing with guests and internal customers.
  • Conducts daily briefings and monthly departmental meetings.
Requirements:
  • 5 - 10 years of related experience.
  • Experience in branded luxury or iconic properties.
  • Director Level Luxury Hospitality Sales and Marketing Experience.
  • Extensive international luxury hospitality sales and marketing experience.
  • Hotel experience and relationships with High-End Leisure Travel Industry Partners.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience Leading strategic development and progression of marketing and sales plans.
  • Preference for an accredited university/college Degree in Business or Hospitality.
  • High degree of data analytics literacy.
  • Must be willing to travel.
