The Role
We are recruiting a Senior Group Accountant to join the Group Finance Team who will be responsible for Group level financial reporting and consolidation. As a core member of the Finance team, the Senior Group Accountant will report to the External Group Reporting Manager and work closely with the Group Financial Controller, business unit finance managers and provide business partnering and support to other department heads to ensure that key objectives are met.
We are seeking candidates with minimum 5 years of experience in a multi-currency, hands-on group reporting/consolidation role. The successful candidate must be passionate about consolidations and systems, possess agility and resilience, be able to transfer knowledge to a multinational team, have exceptional communication skills and a high EQ and have strong organisational skills. They should be comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment spread across several geographies. Success in this role will require someone who is a hands-on, open-minded self-starter that is able to apply technical knowledge and solutions to a multi-ERP environment.
The role will be located in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Drive project management in the External Reporting Team. This includes, but is not limited to, managing the completion of external audits for all group companies, managing the implementation of internal controls and new accounting standards, managing integration of acquisitions and new systems implementation.
Assist in preparation of the group consolidated financial statements under IFRS and preparation and review of the subsidiary financial statements applying local accounting standards.
Assist with the review/preparation of the monthly group consolidation reporting.
Ensure integrity and consistency of underlying reporting data.
Drive efficiency/automation of reporting and timeliness/availability of reports.
Improve/develop reports that will be useful for the business in driving informed decision making.
Financial reporting to shareholders, directors, regulators and any other authorized parties on an appropriate and regular basis.
Indirect management of accounting staff.
Other ad-hoc projects and/or support as needed by Financial Controller/CFO/External Reporting manager.
Generally, uphold the values of the Company.
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:
CA(SA) with minimum 5 years post qualification experience.
Extensive IFRS accounting experience.
Post qualification experience in audit is advantageous.
Demonstrated leadership and project management skills in a fast-moving and complex environment.
Demonstrated experience managing or providing audit support.
Demonstrated consolidation experience.
Experience working in emerging markets and in multi-currency environments.
Experience in implementing process improvements.
Proficiency in Xero is advantageous.
Proficient in MS Office suite, with advanced Excel skills.
Proficiency in Netsuite and Datarails is highly desirable.
Experience working in fin/tech would be valuable.
