GIC is a leading infrastructure developer bridging the gap between public and private sector partnerships to build, design, and finance a brighter future for our partners and communities alike. The company is headquartered in Centurion, South Africa. GIC invests in various infrastructure sub-sectors, including water, housing, health, and transportation.ROLE OVERVIEW AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe Senior Investment Director (Public and Social Infrastructure) is a seasoned professional who drives the investment process, leads the team, and contributes to the fund's growth and success.Key responsibilities include:

  • Deal Origination: Leading the identification and pursuit of investment opportunities
  • Deal Team Leadership: Leading the deal team, setting strategy, and overseeing due diligence and deal execution.
  • Investment Analysis: Conducting complex financial analysis, modelling, and scenario planning.
  • Investment Committee Management: Preparing investment committee materials, presenting deals, and securing approvals.
  • Deal Structuring and Negotiation: Leading deal structuring, negotiating terms, and managing legal documentation.
  • Portfolio Management: Overseeing portfolio performance, identifying value enhancement opportunities, and recommending exits.
  • Team Management: Mentoring and managing investment associates, setting priorities, and reviewing work products.
  • Fundraising and Investor Relations: Assisting with fundraising, investor communications, and maintaining relationships.
  • Strategy Development: Contributing to the development of the fund's investment strategy and growth plans.
  • Thought Leadership: Representing the fund in industry conferences, publishing thought leadership pieces, and maintaining market visibility.
Support MD
  • Supporting the MD to further operationalise the Fund.
  • Support the establishment and development of the Funds policies, governance structures, business plans and strategies in alignment with the NIFs goals and objectives.
  • Support the MD to attract additional capital for the Fund, project development partners and leveraging third-party co-investment for opportunities, from local and international partners and players (whether financial or strategic).
REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTESCore competencies and experienceThe Senior Investment Director (Public and Social Infrastructure) is a seasoned professional with a strong investment background, leadership skills, and industry expertise, who can drive the investment process and contribute to the fund's success.The Senior Investment Director in an infrastructure fund typically possesses the following core competencies and experience:1. Investment expertise:-5+ years of experience in infrastructure investing, private equity, or investment banking-Strong understanding of financial analysis, modelling, and valuation2. Leadership and management:-Proven track record of leading deal teams and managing junior professionals-Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills3. Industry knowledge:-Deep understanding of the infrastructure industry, including trends, regulations, and market dynamics4. Deal-making skills:-Experience in negotiating and closing complex transactions-Strong understanding of legal documentation and deal structuring5. Financial analysis and modelling:-Expertise in financial modelling, data analysis, and financial statement analysis6. Strategic thinking:-Ability to think strategically and develop creative solutions7. Communication and presentation:-Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas to investors, management, and other stakeholders8. Problem-solving and adaptability:-Ability to navigate complex situations, adapt to changing circumstances, and find innovative solutions9. Network and relationships:-An established network of industry contacts, investors, and partners-Experience in working with third parties to advance projects through the project development lifecycle, including offtake considerations and project financing-Experience with managing multiple projects and diverse stakeholder groups-Project management and reporting skills for infrastructure projects10. Academic qualifications:-Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., finance, economics, engineering); advanced degree (e.g., MBA, MSF) preferred11. Knowledge of the infrastructure sector

Other Skills, Experience, and Attributes * Highly proactive, with an entrepreneurial attitude.
  • Highly energetic, hands-on, and motivated to help create, build-out and shape project development opportunities from an early stage.
  • Experience in financing first-of-kind projects and associated risk management
  • Strong interest in South Africa and contributing to the development of the local economy and infrastructure eco-system
  • Creative and innovative, desire to think and deliver beyond minimum deliverables - the ability to think on your feet
REMUNERATIONCompensation will depend on relevant experience and include base salary and variable performance-related elements at the discretion of the Fund.
