The Senior IPT (ISP) Engineer is the overall custodian for planning, implementation, and operation of the ISP network.
This will cover all requirements for ISP Core and Open access networks including Layer 2 and 3 switching and routing, MPLS, FTTH and Fixed line networks, BRAS, CGNAT, peering, content caching and public IPv4/IPv6 queries and providing support for network faults and issues raised by the NOC (Network Operations Centre) team.
Responsibilities:
Scope ISP network requirements nationally. Including peering, Caching, NAT, BGP, PPPOE and Radius.
Conduct high-level and low-level network planning.
Develop methods of procedure and oversee implementation.
Design, develop automated test cases for features of network management and automation product for ISP network.
Understand feature impacts, identify test cases, and prepare plan to execute them.
Understand real-world customer deployments and incorporate feedback into test cases.
Fibre optic networking in data centre environments
Mixed multi-vendor Environments.
At least five of the following equipment vendors: - Huawei Route & Switch - Arista - Mikrotik - Ciena - Juniper - Huawei GPON - Calix - Nokia GPON - Fortigate - Cisco NXOS.
Open Access Networks -From either ISP (Internet Service Provider) or FNO (Fibre Network Operator) perspective.
ISP Core Operations including: - Peering Coordination and Internet Exchanges - Content Cache Infrastructure - eBGP Traffic Engineering Support management team on national planning projects.
IPv4 & IPv6 network protocols.
Troubleshooting and diagnosing user application performance issues - Speed & traffic throughput - Latency, jitter & user experience.
Additional Skills & Experience:
Network security.
Firewall administration.
Fibre optic backhaul and transmission - Passive DWDM & CWDM - Optical link planning.
Last mile fibre technology - Ethernet point-to-point - GPON and related passive technologies.
Scripting & coding - BASH, Python, YAML, etc.
Basic Linux systems administration.
Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) Service Architectures.
Microsoft Azure Networking.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) Networking.
PRTG & SNMP monitoring tools.
NetBox & inventory management tools.

Required Qualification, Skills and Experience Minimum Qualification Indicator:
At least 2 years of tertiary education in an engineering or computer science field
Network professional certifications
Minimum Experience Indicator:
Ten (10) years of experience in the network and telecommunications industry, in a Carrier / Mobile / Enterprise environment.
Should be able to communicate & collaborate across the Enterprise (Cross functional seamless execution) and developing strong relationships with Internal and External customers.
