Experiential learning has been a key approach to achieving this objective. The Faculty launched its Small Business Clinic in July 2024, a significant indicator of the university's commitment to preparing graduates for opportunities in Entrepreneurship. The successful candidate will assume primary responsibility for activities of the Small Business Clinic and will report to the Dean of the Faculty, with a dotted reporting line to the Departmental Chairperson for the Department of Management and Entrepreneurship (DME). He/She will also assume a teaching and supervision load through his/her affiliation with the DME.The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:

  • Identifying and pursuing networks and partnerships with relevant stakeholders
  • Identifying and pursuing funding opportunities to support the activities of the Small Business Clinic
  • Managing and overseeing all activities of the Small Business Clinic
  • Managing staff in the Small Business Clinic
  • Writing reports on activities of the Clinic
  • Reporting to the Dean on matters related to the Clinic
  • Facilitating learning at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Entrepreneurship related modules
  • Conducting research and publishing in Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development
  • Undertaking undergraduate and postgraduate supervision
  • Undertaking curriculum development and assessment
  • Participating in community engagement and outreach
Minimum Requirements
  • Doctoral qualification or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitating learning, preferably in the field of Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development
  • A record of publications, preferably in the field of Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development
  • A record of successful supervision at Honours and Masters level
  • Demonstrated competence in community engagement
  • Demonstrated competence in generating third stream income (including research grants)
  • Experience in academic leadership and management
