SENIOR LECTURER

Minimum requirements

D-Eng. / D-Tech / PhD qualification in mechanical engineering, with an undergraduate qualification in an appropriate At least 5 years of teaching and professional experience in materials or metallurgy or advanced Evidence of research and postgraduate

Good Publications Record Good communication and lecturing skills A strong passion for teaching and research Professionally registered with ECSA or a plan to register in the short to medium term.

LECTURER

Minimum requirements

MEng or equivalent NQF level 9 qualification in engineering, with an undergraduate qualification in Mechanical or mechatronic engineering. At least 3 years of teaching/professional experience. Evidence of emerging research and publication record.

Good communication and lecturing skills A strong passion for teaching and research Professionally registered with ECSA or a plan to register in the short to medium term. Good research track record or relevant research experience and an ability and desire to advance research development in the department. Required to currently be pursuing a doctoral qualification in Engineering.

Field of Expertise

The candidate must have expertise in at least two of the following areas: Thermodynamics, Strengths of Materials, Material Structures, Finite Element Analysis, Computational Modelling and Fluids Mechanics.

Summary of Duties

Teaching, assessing, and supervising at all relevant levels. Responsible for at least three modules per year in accordance with fair workload distribution. Development of learning materials for different courses. Supervise BEng Tech design projects and be actively involved in research and/or post-graduate supervision in the department. Assist with administrative and other duties as prescribed by the Head of Department or representative as delegated. To serve as chair of a specialty area on a rotational basis. To contribute/lead curriculum design. To assist the department in the delivery of quality teaching and learning.
