:We are seeking an experienced Senior Legal Advisor to join a legal team on a fixed-term contract for 12 months. This role is ideal for a legal professional with a strong background in corporate commercial law, mergers & acquisitions, finance, and investment fund structuring. The successful candidate will provide strategic legal support to the investment and portfolio management functions while taking full ownership of the legal work for at least three funds under management. The role requires a highly skilled legal expert with strong interpersonal and strategic advisory abilities. Suitable candidates can be either Johannesburg or Cape Town based.Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert legal advice and strategic support to the investment and portfolio management teams.
  • Take ownership of all legal work related to at least three funds under management.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of investment, financing, and commercial agreements.
  • Advise on private equity and venture capital fund structuring.
  • Support mergers & acquisitions, private equity, and early-stage debt/equity transactions.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and mitigate legal risks for investments and fund management activities.
  • Manage external legal counsel where necessary and oversee legal due diligence processes.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to drive effective deal structuring and execution.
RequirementsLLB (Bachelor of Laws) degree, completion of articles, and admission as an attorney of the High Court.Minimum of 8+ years of post-qualification experience in corporate and commercial law.Strong experience in mergers & acquisitions, private equity, venture capital, and investment transactions.Proven ability to manage and execute complex corporate and finance transactions.Advanced strategic thinking and interpersonal skills to engage with internal and external stakeholders.Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced investment environment.
