Job Description
A well-established financial services business is seeking to appoint a Senior Legal Advisor: Recoveries & Insolvency. To create and manage an end-to-end legal recoveries capability. The function should maximise cost effective recoveries and contributing to minimising financial loss and mitigating risk.Minimum Education and Experience:
- LLB or equivalent qualification.
- Admission as on attorneys is a requirement or admitted Advocate having served pupillage.
- 7 years experience in legal recoveries / debt collection environment, preferably in a bank at the senior management level.
- 5 years management experience is preferable.
- Manage land claims, ensure recovery of money on properties subject to land claims.
- Track all claims to ensure that maximum recovery takes place
- Maintain relationships with external service providers (attorneys; debt collectors, etc.) and handle their queries timeously.
- Strategy development and overseeing the legal recovery process including insolvency and debt collection
- Manage various functions within Legal Recoveries in order to maximise cost effective recoveries.
- Experience in restructuring of distressed accounts
- Understanding of Insolvency legislation and practises in South Africa
- In depth knowledge of the Companies Act, NCA, CPA, Land Bank Act, and other relevant legislations
