Job Description


:Key Performance OutputThe successful candidates will be reporting to the Group Manager Organisational Design, Development and ER, and will be responsible but not limited to the following:

  • Develop and manage the implementation of the Employee Relations strategy, policies, and procedures with the aim of optimising the relationship between the company, its employees, trade unions and employer bodies.
  • Actively participate on internal structures (e.g., National Labour Forum, Local Labour Forum, OPS Manco, etc.) and provide strategic advice to management on emerging issues.
  • Provide expert and specialist advice to management on HR and ER Matters, and regulatory compliance, including inter alia the LRA, BCEA, Employment Equity Act, ACSA conditions of services, and the company's HR and ER policies and procedures.
  • Represent the company at the CCMA (Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration).
  • Manage industrial actions i.e., strikes, to ensure timeous resolution and reduced adverse impact on business (strike contingency plans).
  • Conduct workforce planning to ensure function is suitably staffed to meet strategic functional objectives.
  • Ensure that good communication channels or systems are in place to address issues proactively.
  • Interpret and explain provisions salary and benefits resolutions, memoranda of understanding, company policies, labour laws and other laws and legal documents affecting terms and conditions of employment to managers, supervisors, and employees.
  • Manage the audit process of the department with internal and external auditors.
  • Manage compliance with legislation and collective agreement requirements
  • Coordinate and prepare quarterly and annual reports on the progress of the department.
Technical Skills and ExperienceThe following skills and experience or the equivalent of such will be required:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Employee/Industrial Relations/ Labour Law/LLB. (NQF Level 8).
  • 6 years operational experience in Labour Law / Employee or Industrial Relations.
  • 4 years management experience in Labour Law / Employee or Industrial Relations/ Stakeholder Management
  • MS Office Advance
  • Code 8 drivers license
