  • Create the design and technical foundation for safe and efficient underground conventional systems of work through applying knowledge and experience of underground conventional mining systems and processes.
  • Actively seek opportunities to improve safety through design and mine configuration.
Performance and Delivery
  • Create the foundation for safe and efficient underground conventional operational systems of work through short-medium term planning.
  • Custodian of specialised mine design / mine planning for our underground conventional mines to ensure the Platinum business maintains high quality, value optimised medium-term plan for each of their assets (and projects).
  • Responsible for the medium term mine planning of our underground conventional, in collaboration with the operational site technical and mine planning teams.
  • Provide our mine site teams (and projects where requires) with developed and specialist underground conventional site experience to support identification and resolution of mining challenges impacting confidence and continuity of mine performance to meet targets.
  • Participates in site and operational reviews (as required), generates reports, presentations and output as required to effectively communicate work outputs.
  • Drive improvement and innovation in underground conventional mine planning processes through engagement with internal business stakeholders.
  • Responsible for value optimised medium term mine planning and beyond of our conventional mine, in collaboration with the operational site technical and mine planning teams.
  • Responsible for the review and implementation of mine's strategic plan from a Long-Term Perspective and to ensure that designs and schedules are executable and optimised.
  • Identifies, reports and comments on key technical issues, risks and opportunities for value add on the operation and/or project.
  • Custodian of short to medium conventional mine planning standards, mine design standards, conducts audits and tracks compliance from a strategic business plan perspective. Also required to review short to medium term plans to ensure expected outcomes are achieved.

  • Monitor the performance of underground conventional short-medium term mine planning systems and processes to evaluate if changes are necessary and/ or effective.

This role is Band 6 role reporting to the Manager Mine Planning.Qualifications
  • Degree in B.Eng. BSc. BTech (Mining Engineering).
Experience:
  • Minimum 5 years conventional mine experience of which at least 3 to 4 years should be in mine planning/ technical environment.
  • At least 3 years site based mining engineering experience in conventional mine and mine planning.
  • Extensive mine site based operational, technical and mine planning experience that demonstrates successful application of mining engineering fundamentals.
  • Other Planning Software (Deswick. DataMine) would be advantageous.
Technical Knowledge
  • Proficient knowledge in underground conventional mine planning Mining Engineering systems technical enablers.
  • A track record of developing and successfully implementing Mining Studies.
