Provide drill and blast engineering services
Perform accurate design and analysis on time for D&B related activities
Plan, schedule, and coordinate detailed phases of engineering work
Undertake Drill and Blast projects, studies and investigations
Resolve customer-related drill and blast technical issues
Liaise with customer personnel during projects
Identify potential hazards and risks associated with blast designs & implementation
Provide mentoring and guidance to other Drill and Blast Engineers
Develop of detailed safe work procedures
Participate in safety investigations as required.
Maintain and improve safe work practices
Maintain and enhance customer relationships
Communicate regularly with other departments within the business
Review work practices and investigate new technologies to determine areas of technical improvement
Liaise with consultants and suppliers as required
Provide specialist reports on particular facets of the drill and blast operation
Ensure compliance with relevant statutory requirements and legislation
Commit to 'Health and Safety' and encourage others by leading by example
Actively report hazards and incidents
Create a climate of mutual trust between all departments
Actively seek opportunities to improve overall performance

Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in mining engineering (preferred) or a related engineering discipline
10+ years of practical mining experience with a minimum of 5 years in Drill & Blast
OR
Master's degree (or higher) in mining engineering (preferred) or a related engineering discipline
6+ years of practical mining experience with a minimum of 3 years in Drill & Blast
Requirements
Strong knowledge of different surface & UG mining methods
Comprehensive knowledge of explosive products & applications
Solid understanding of Blast Design & Mine Planning software (e.g. Minesight, SURPAC, or similar)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite with advanced skills in Word, Excel & PowerPoint
Strong interpersonal communication (written & verbal) skills
Ability to manage time constraints, competing priorities and work prioritization.
Ability to think critically, analyze technical data and identify trends and patterns
Some knowledge of mine planning methodologies is preferred
Some knowledge of mining equipment is preferred
Project management skills are preferred
* Willingness to travel and work at remote mine sites
