Job Description

Senior Network Deployment Engineer is responsible for aiding the design of and undertaking the implementation and maintenance of complex network infrastructures.Job title: Senior Network Engineer:Senior Network EngineerRole ObjectiveTo assist in the provision of high standard technical support and service delivery as per operating level agreements.Key purpose is to manage 24/7 availability and maintenance of the Network Infrastructure to support business objectivesThe role also includes the delivery of key network infrastructure projects.This role sits within the South Africa Network team, which is part of IT Infrastructure at Capita. It is shift based with a requirement for providing on-call cover outside of shift hours. Although the role is focused on South Africa network infrastructure, it requires engagement with Capita UK and India counterparts to manage end to end network stabilityMinimum Qualification:

• Grade 12 or equvalent
• CCNA certification (Essential)
• CCNP certification (Preferably)
• Firewall & Security knowledge

Minimum Experience:

• 5 to 9 years of enterprise network administration
• Routing, Switching and Firewall experience.
• Experience in PCI environment preferred.

Primary Responsibilities:

• 24 x 7 support for network infrastructure
• Implementing & Management of Local Area network (LAN).
• implementation & Management of Wide Area network (WAN).
• Configuration of Firewalls. Preferred technology is Palo Alto
• Proactive monitoring & management of Network infrastructure.
• Availability and Capacity management
• Ensure Network uptime.
• Respond to logged incidents and requests
• Implementation of changes as per change management policy.
• Liaison with 3rd party service centre and engineers as required
• Provide support for service backups

• Take part in the test data restore procedure
• Monitor success rates and implement workarounds/re-runs as required
• Disaster Recovery

• Testing as directed by the DR Coordinator
• Implementation of DR services upon invocation
• Planning of DR strategies
• Systems Performance tuning as required
• Proof of concept and research and development projects

• Review customer requests for service
• Take part in customer due diligence exercises
• Review and report on new products and technologies as required
• Integrate new solutions into current service environment
• Provide backup support for the network team members.
• Create and provide input to the following reports:

• Daily, Weekly & Monthly uptime reports.
• Capacity management reports

• Other team activity reports as requested by the IT Project Manager and/or HOD

Key Result Areas:Implementation & Management of Network & Security infrastructure.

• Responsible for Network fault diagnosis and resolution
• Ability to Manage the LAN Network using the latest Network devices Cisco 9500, 9200, 2960-X switches.
• Configuration & management of LAN Network using STP & Security protocols

• Accurate diagnosis of faults using appropriate toolsets and techniques
• Prompt resolution of Network faults to agreed SLAs
• Adherence to agreed escalation processes
• Share knowledge to the benefit of both the team & the service

Hardware & Software Maintenance

• To assist with periodic reviews of all network operating systems in order to ensure they fall in line with recommended vendor requirements.

• Recommend and implement appropriate actions.

Security

• Ensure URL protection adheres to company standards
• Hands-on knowledge on configuration & implementation of changes on Firewall.
• Needs to work closely with InfoSec and Compliance to ensure implementation and management of IPS/IDS, DDoS and URL protection.

• Conformance to security guidelines in all relevant activities.
• Successful audits.

Availability and Capacity Management

• To assist in providing information to the client regarding the general performance of the network.
• Ensure Network is available 24x7x365.
• Responsible for Network uptime.

Suggested Targets

• Utilization of corporate toolsets to provide detailed reports to key stakeholders as and when required.

Project Work

• Contribute to Network elements of infrastructure projects
• Implementation of Local Area Network (LAN) & Wide Area Network (WAN)
• Management of Firewalls.
• Setup of new office Network / Setup of new floor Network in existing office.
• Contribution to High Level and Low Level design documents and diagrams

Suggested Targets

• Validation of network requirements
• Agreement of required tasks and timelines
• Identification of any Network related risks and issues.
• Delivery of tasks in agreed timelines
• Understanding of required Network bill of Material (BOM).
• Implementation & configuration of Network & security devices.

Technical Documentation

• Develop and maintain Network operations documentation to a quality standard.
• Maintain the site wise Network documentation.
• Maintain the Network inventory.

• Production of documentation, evidence of adherence to standards and approval of documentation.
