Job Description

  • Develop, maintain, and implement the Directorate's Recruitment Plan.
  • Visit identified schools and career exhibitions.
  • Enhance existing relationships and develop new ones with schools.
  • Engage with Faculties to influence admission decisions.
  • Identify and recruit top achievers for all faculties.
  • Identify top achievers for the SRS Top Achiever programmes (Matriculant of the Year, Star of Stars, Red Box Society, etc.) and for the fields of sport, culture, and leadership.
  • Administer school visits, i.e., making appointments, accommodation arrangements, preparing the travel program for the week, school visit form, and marketing material.
  • Visit and deliver presentations to identified schools as per the Annual Plan regarding the University's academic programmes; and responds to enquiries through group or individual sessions.
  • Attend or coordinate Career Exhibitions as per the Annual Plan,
  • Compile year planning and -reports, quarterly planning and-reports, and statistical reports.
  • Liaise with school principals and educators.
  • Contact and build relationships with school stakeholders (contact person and/or principals).
  • Responsible for effective relationship marketing between the school, staff, principal, and University through Facebook, birthday cards, and letters of appreciation.
  • Responsible for UFS marketing opportunities (Open day, UFS Central Region Rugby League, UFS matriculates of the Year competition, first Years' welcome, Virtual sessions, campus visits, etc).
  • Identify, approve, and reach an agreement about new sponsorship opportunities at identified schools.
  • Measure the annual return on investment per sponsorship.
  • Consult with Faculties on new programmes and special needs.
  • Consult with internal departments for queries from prospective students.
  • Visit identified schools and career exhibitions.
  • Provide premier service to prospective students who require assistance.
  • Assist selected schools with strategies that link with the university's vision.
  • Ensure that the Schools' data is correct at all times.
  • Analyse monthly application statistics to check if learners from key schools have applied.
  • Develop and implement contingency measures to meet set targets.
  • Manage and organise marketing projects as per the Directorate's strategy.
  • Support the Directorate to ensure the successful implementation of all projects.
  • Responsible for the financial management of the entities under your control.
  • Manage the use of the university assets allocated to you effectively.
Inherent requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or a B-Tech degree on NQF Level 7 in Marketing, Communication, Education or a related field.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of relevant working experience relating to the duties and responsibilities in the higher education sector.
  • A proven track record of understanding schools in Gauteng in Quintile 5, Quintile 99, and private schools.
  • A valid driver's license.
Recommendations:
  • Three (3) years of relevant experience in higher education, especially in student recruitment/school liaison.
  • Honours degree on NQF level eight (8) in Marketing and Communication or related field.
  • Knowledge of the higher education landscape and the school environment, focusing on Quintile 5, Quintile 99, and private schools.
  • A clear understanding of how to communicate or engage with Gen Z.
