The successful candidate will have a B.Tech/Management Diploma, 10 to 15 years' experience within the construction/mining industry and at least 5 years management experience. Knowledge of and experience leading technical teams in the Heavy Earthmoving Equipment industry is a requirement, preferably in mining. Proven business and financial acumen required.Minimum requirements:Experience:

  • 10 years or more experience in the mining industry servicing tier 1 mining customers and managing an operational function with technical service support.
  • At least 5 years operational management experience
  • Intermediate level Komatsu product knowledge or good knowledge of heavy earth moving equipment used in the mining industry is essential.
Qualifications:
  • B. Tech/B.Eng Degree in Mining/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering and a Management Diploma/certification or similar (NQF 7)
  • GCC certification is an advantage

  • Strategic planning and translating organisational goals into business plans.

  • Planning, monitoring, and controlling monetary resources for the depot.

  • Participates in the unit sales process in support of the Product Sales function and in conjunction with head office functions (Marketing & Sales, Pricing, Product Support, Mining department, R&M Contracts)
  • Product and application support for customers and the region
  • Approves, plans, and budgets for product support resources - staff, tools, assets, etc.
  • Technical service management
  • Approves, consolidates, and drafts overall budget and plan for technical functions relating to service and service contracts
  • Leads and directs quality of technical service
  • Analyses, authorise and makes decisions on re-work and credit notes within level of authority and policy resolves complex queries and problems internally and with customer
  • Reports on service statistics, down-time, parts availability, and other measurement metrics and makes recommendations on improvements
  • Supply, warehousing (inventory management) and distribution of Units and Parts
  • Initiates and requests warehouse requirements
  • Leads and directs the supply, inventory management and distribution functions
  • Resolves critical problems relating to the availability of stock items & emergency orders
  • Liaises with customers with regards to issues impacting on the availability of parts/machines/components
  • Reports on consolidated inventory and makes recommendations on continuous improvement issues
  • Operational Site Management
  • Approves business plans submitted
  • Manages and approves work executed
  • Authorises financial transactions
  • Monitors depot metrics - profitability, service quality, inventory and other measures
  • Drafts financial reports and makes recommendations on problems & issues
  • Gathers operational data from branch/depot with regards to critical measures/metrics/financial data
  • Consolidated financial reporting
