Role: Hybrid (based in Centurion, South Africa)A leading Fintech company is looking for a Senior Software Engineer (PHP) to join their Financial Services Engineering team in Centurion (hybrid role). • Grade 12 or equivalent (Essential).
• IT Degree or Diploma (Desirable).

Requirements:

• 7+ years experience as a Software Engineer.
• IT Degree - BSc or BComp.
• Strong PHP background with experience in PHP frameworks & open-source technologies.
• Experience with Docker for building, testing, and deploying applications.
• Database management (data migration, transformation, and scripting).
• Strong experience with modern Git workflows (CI/CD, pull requests, and code reviews).
• Understanding of design patterns and principles (SOLID, OOP, microservices, and RESTful APIs).
• Cloud technologies experience (AWS).
• Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban).

• Code Excellence: Write high-quality, scalable, and maintainable code.
• Feature Development: Design and implement medium-to-large features.
• Technical Leadership: Provide mentorship, technical advice, and improve engineering quality.
• Collaboration: Work within cross-functional teams, contributing to a culture of innovation and efficiency.
• Process Improvement: Continuously enhance team processes and best practices.

Additional Skills:

• Strong communication & leadership skills.
• Problem-solving, critical thinking, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with accounting principles (double-entry bookkeeping, financial statements, etc.).
