Senior Product Manager

within the

Kazang - Micro Merchant Division,

in

Century City, Cape Town

.


We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced

Senior Product Manager

to lead the strategy,

development, and execution of innovative digital products within Kazang. The ideal candidate has a

robust background spanning start-ups, scale-ups, and enterprise environments, particularly in

fintech. They should possess deep expertise in

B2C platforms with high user engagement

,

significant experience in

B2B products

, and a proven ability to deliver commercially viable,

automated, and optimized solutions. A strong grasp of

business process modeling (BPMN)

and

process engineering is critical, along with technical acumen and the ability to seamlessly collaborate

with technology, product, and business teams.


The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of the payments landscape, including

switching, payment schemes, PEDs, and payment acceptance devices

. They will define the product vision, roadmap, and execution strategy, aligning with business objectives and market

needs. The role demands a hands-on approach to managing complex technical products, driving

efficiency, and scaling platforms while delivering customer-centric solutions.


In addition to product ownership, the

Senior Product Manager

will lead and mentor product teams,

ensuring alignment with the overarching strategy and fostering a culture of collaboration,

innovation, and excellence.



Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:





Product Strategy & Roadmap



Define and execute long-term, medium, and short-term product strategies using industry, market, and financial insights. Align product vision with executive strategy, ensuring seamless integration from C-suite to operational teams. Own the product roadmap, driving innovation while balancing short-term business objectives with long-term growth goals. Conduct competitive analysis and market research to identify opportunities and threats. Establish KPIs and success metrics to measure product performance and drive continuous improvements.

Product Development & Execution



Manage the full product development lifecycle (PDLC) and software development lifecycle (SDLC) using Agile, Kanban, or other iterative frameworks. Oversee cross-functional squads, including engineering, UX/UI, business operations, and scrum teams. Ensure data-driven decision-making, leveraging analytics, customer insights, and feedback to enhance product performance. Drive process automation initiatives, removing manual steps to improve efficiency and scalability. Lead business process modeling (BPMN) and workflow optimization initiatives to streamline operations. Work closely with engineering teams to define technical requirements and development timelines. Lead user research initiatives to validate product features and improve usability. Commercial & Business Impact Collaborate with the Chief Product Technology Officer and leadership to develop financially viable products while scaling agile teams. Design and optimize business models, pricing strategies, and device strategies across payments acceptance, POS, VAS solutions, and business management features. Lead the development and integration of card systems (issuing and acquiring), including applications with major card networks, API reviews and integrations, and commercial discussions. Identify new revenue streams and drive product monetization strategies. Develop and manage business cases and budget forecasts for new product initiatives.

Customer-Centric Innovation



Champion the voice of the customer, ensuring user needs are at the core of all decisions. Develop and optimize customer onboarding, risk vetting, and risk grading models. Manage customer-facing mobile applications, continuously enhancing UX through data analysis and feedback loops. Work with customer support teams to improve service offerings and enhance customer satisfaction. Utilize A/B testing and experimentation frameworks to refine features and optimize user engagement.

Stakeholder Engagement & Leadership



Act as a bridge between product, marketing, and sales, ensuring smooth go-to-market strategies and adoption. Partner with senior leadership, aligning product initiatives with overall business objectives. Mentor and develop junior product managers, fostering a high-performance team culture. Manage relationships with external vendors, partners, and key stakeholders. Process & Operational Efficiency Lead initiatives to optimize business processes and workflows, focusing on automation and scalability. Design and manage business process mapping, annotations, and automation to enhance operational efficiency. Implement and promote best practices in process engineering and operational workflows. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards. Implement risk management frameworks to mitigate operational and financial risks.

In order to be considered for this position, the following requirements must be met:



6+ years of experience in Product Management, ideally in fintech and payments. Proven experience across start-ups, scale-ups, and enterprise environments. Strong expertise in business process modeling (BPMN) and process engineering.
Proven track record in both B2C and B2B environments.

Strong background in payment orchestration, issuing and acquiring, technology, and statistical

modeling.
Hands-on experience with data pipelines, data mapping, and leveraging insights for decision making. Deep understanding of payments (VAS) ecosystems, card issuing, and commercial negotiations. Strong analytical skills with a data-driven approach to product development. Knowledge of asset management and mobile device management (MDM) software. Experience with growth hacking strategies to improve user acquisition and retention. Expertise in product marketing and positioning, working closely with sales and marketing teams. Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a cross-functional, collaborative
environment.

Technical Tools & Expertise Analytics Tools: BigQuery, Looker Studio, Microsoft Excel, Tableau, Power BI. Diagram, Design & Process Mapping Tools: Draw.io, Miro, Figma, Microsoft Visio. Workflow & Communication Tools: Microsoft Suite, Slack, Confluence, Notion, Zendesk. Product Management & Automation Tools: Zapier, Jira (Atlassian), Confluence. Process Engineering Expertise: In-depth knowledge of BPMN and process optimization * frameworks.
