About the roleFinding better ways to provide the materials the world needs.An exciting opportunity exists for a Senior Production Manager- Smelting, Processing & Logistics to manage the safety, human resource, financial, operational, technical, asset maintenance and capital expenditure programmes of the MSP Products Department as well as the compliance with legal, company and market requirements.Reporting to the General Manager- Smelting, Processing & Logistics you will:
Safely manage the work of all the sections that make up the MSP Products Department to meet the annual production plan in terms of quantity, within budgetary cost restraints
Evaluate change and initiate alternative actions to ensure target achievement. Set long-term strategic objectives to enhance plant performance.
Manage the complement and competence of staff and direct reportee and foster relationships to promote teamwork, leadership, and motivation.
Manage the functions of the MSP Products department to high standards - 30%- Meet the production requirements for all products while achieving the optimal/lowest overall unit cost of production at the required quality specification.
SHEQ Management - 25%- Ensure zero fatalities and injuries by promoting a culture of safety by ensuring that safety initiatives adopted by RBM are fully implemented.
Staff Leadership and Development - 20%- Identify staff training and development needs and make recommendations to ensure that the required technical skills and behavioural skills are imparted to facilitate optimal functioning.
Administration and Reporting - 20%- Develop the 5-year budget and plan annually.
Stock and Cost control - 5%- Prepare and control the section and maintenance budgets by forecasting operating costs and monitoring expenditure of normal and abnormal costs monthly.
What youll bring
BSc in Engineering in Metallurgy /Chemical / Industrial/ Mining /Geology or equivalent from a recognised tertiary institution
MBA, MDP or any other relevant post-graduate management qualification
10 years post graduate experience, of which 5 years should be in operations management within a heavy industry environment leading seasoned teams and large teams.
Mineral sands experince will be an added advantage.
Working knowledge with molten treatment, asset maintenance, heavy mobile equipment management, communication and screening, mineral processing, coal drying and handling and roasting.
