OVERVIEW:
A Senior Project Consultant plays a key role in managing and leading projects related to revenue generation, process optimization, and business strategy for clients across different industries. They bring deep expertise in consulting and are responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of client projects by managing resources, timelines, and stakeholder expectations.
JOB PURPOSE:
To manage assigned project/s from initial phase to completion in terms of specifications, time and budget; adhering to project management principles and standards, i.e. planning, leading, organising and controlling, while ensuring that general performance responds to the performance scorecard.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Planning
Project management of the conceptual and planning phase of the project
Ensure the itemised budget is available and approved.
Verifying the correct scope of works has been defined for the project.
Provide project specific information to the Leadership Team
Verify deliverables of the planning phase for implementation of the project/s.
Project Implementation
Implement and control of all stages of the project.
Coordinate the implementation process.
Ensure everyone involved adheres to the scope of work as per the project plan.
Manage and monitor project budget to ensure that it is effectively spent and within projected timeframe.
Manage quality assurance.
Monitor quality and quantity of work done based on contract document.
Manage and control conflicts on sites and / or around project implementation.
Project Closure
Manage all project completion requirements, ensuring that all necessary requirements are adhered to.
Compile Close Out report.
Facilitate communication with relevant stakeholders, ensuring that the project is properly handed over.
Ensure that all project documents are properly filed.
Provide specifications documents and tender documents.
Ensure that all contracted stakeholders have signed contracts and other relevant documents e.g. Project Initiation Document, Project Reports etc.
Exercise necessary risk management to ensure that all stakeholders comply and that safety on site is carried out in terms of specifications.
Governance And Compliance
Implement sound governance practices in terms of structures, systems, processes, policies, procedures, and controls, to ensure delivery on strategic and operational objectives
Implement a system for Good Governance to comply with all legislation, project requirements and codes of good practice.
Enforce adherence to internal controls.
Reporting
Report to the Operations Manager on implementation progress:
Performance against the business and operational plans from the unit's perspective
Governance, risk and compliance
Levels of assurance provided in terms of combined assurance
Human capital management
Financial management
Stakeholder management
Draft and submit management reports so that internal and external stakeholders are informed of performance progress and relevant issues of the unit.
Risk Management
Conduct sufficient risk management in the unit's operations so that liability is minimised and eliminated.
Identify, update and manage the strategic and operational risks of the project and make inputs into the operational risk report.
Develop and implement mitigating measures for the project.
Monitor and report on risk and mitigation within the subsidiary.
Exercise necessary risk management to ensure that all stakeholders comply
Ensure sufficient risk management is conducted during site operations so that liability is minimised and eliminated.
Ensure the adherence to the risk management processes during projects.
Financial Management
Ensure the management of the subsidiary's budget in compliance with the company policy and relevant regulations.
Ensure expenditure is aligned with the allocated budget for the project.
Prepare monthly expenditure reports on the project budget.
Manage adherence to supply chain processes to ensure successful implementation of project plans and the budget.
Provide auditors with the required information on queries (when required).
Contribute to the subsidiary achieving a clean administrative audit outcome, from a department perspective.
Strategy Implementation
Implement the operational plan in line with the allocated budget
Translate operational feedback into strategic recommendations.
Communicate and implement the operational plan and activities to interfacing divisions.
Facilitate effective liaison on projects with internal and external stakeholders on projects.
Make input to the response to the stakeholder needs assessments.
Conduct presentations/ workshops to internal and external stakeholders.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Prior exposure necessary to perform
Bachelor's Degree/B Tech in Finance or equivalent qualification; and project management certificate
5 years experience in project management in related field
At least 3 years experience managing a team in projects
