Job Summary To lead the identification and development of projects through the project development life cycle until bankability, in a manner that achieves the client's strategic objectives and contributes to industry development goals. Qualification Minimum qualification: relevant engineering degree preferably in built environment. A financial qualification eg. MBA/MBL/CFA would be advantageous. Knowledge xc3x82 Skills xc3x82 8-10 years related experience in Project Development within some of the infrastructure sectors listed below: Land: road, rail, shared storage (e.g., cold storage, silos), industrial hubs and border posts Marine: ports/terminals, shipping/cargo, waterways., offshore facilities, port facilities and marine storage. Air: ports/terminals and cargo (freight) Storage: reservoirs dams. Transportation: pipelines. Bulk services: irrigation systems, pump stations. Treatment wastewater, raw water, and desalination. Wireless, transmission equipment (including towers) Fixed equipment (fibre)/ Open access/shared infrastructure/ Data centers Track record of leading due diligences Track record of submission to shareholders to obtain project funding. Track record of leading the implementation of feasibility studies (must include in cv). Previous project development experience dealing with multiple partners/funders. Detailed understanding and application of corporate management and structuring processes. Detailed understanding and application of project development and project finance. Project leadership (complex projects). Experience in peer reviews. Experience in interpretation of financial statements. Knowledge of the market environment and technology landscape within the infrastructure sector. Knowledge of financing instruments. Understand and review models of proposed financial structures. Competent in coaching and mentoring of team members. Financial / Shareholder Returns Optimal structuring of projects utilizing project finance principles and the client's financing instruments, in a manner co-fundable by the private sector. Ensure that all projects are developed and structured in a manner that achieves optimal financial returns and maximises potential developmental outcomes. Internal / Operational Processes Lead the client's participation in infrastructure projects during various phases of project development (idea generation, project scoping, pre-feasibility study, bankable feasibility study (BFS)). Lead the evaluation of projects at every decision gate of the project development life cycle up to the conclusion of the BFS phase. Proactive identification of project opportunities to build the pipeline. Scoping / assessment of externally generated project opportunities. Ensure that projects are aligned with the strategic objectives of the relevant orginisational sectoral Strategic Business Unit (SBU) and will contribute to meeting the Units investment and credit objectives and project milestones. Develop effective project-specific risk management and mitigation measures during the project development phase and for commercial implementation. Development and implementation of strategies and action plans to drive the Units strategic objectives. Quality control of projects during development phases. Lead the preparation and presentation of due diligence reports to relevant internal committees for decision making and funding during the project development phases. Contribute to the improvement of competence and knowledge of project ideation / origination / initiation and development. Conduct peer reviews for Project Development Managers. Customer Focus Stakeholder Management Building influential and sustainable relationships with strategic partners to assist the Unit in achieving its strategic objectives. Establish and maintain effective networks and build the client brand awareness. Representation on Boards / Steering Committees Effectively interact with different SBUs and departments to fulfil the process requirements related to any specific project. Manage and enhance the levels of service and communication to ensure the provision of client service excellence. Learning, Leadership People Growth Provide team leadership in projects.
