Job Description


The Solar Project Engineer will be responsible for the technical design, planning, and execution of solar energy projects from inception to completion. This role requires a hands-on approach in managing engineering processes, ensuring compliance with regulations, optimizing system performance, and coordinating with cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate will have experience in solar energy design and project management, with a focus on delivering high-quality results on time and within budget.Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and engineer solar PV systems for industrial, commercial, and utility-scale projects.
  • Prepare detailed electrical and mechanical drawings, layouts, and specifications.
  • Perform energy production analyses, simulations, and optimization of solar PV systems using industry-standard software.
  • Manage and oversee project timelines, budgets, and resources from design to commissioning.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including construction, procurement, and sales, to ensure seamless project delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry standards (NEC, IEC, etc.).
  • Provide technical support during project development, permitting, and construction phases.
  • Conduct site assessments, feasibility studies, and system performance testing.
  • Troubleshoot system issues and recommend improvements for efficiency and performance.
  • Communicate regularly with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure project goals are met.
  • Prepare project documentation, including engineering reports, as-built drawings, and O&M manuals.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Renewable Energy Engineering (or related field).
  • 3+ years of experience in solar PV system design and engineering.
  • Proficiency with solar design software (e.g., PVsyst, AutoCAD, Helioscope).
  • Strong understanding of electrical codes and standards (NEC, IEEE, etc.).
  • Experience with project management and knowledge of construction processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or NABCEP certification is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
