Job Description


Position Objectives:

  • Contribute in the delivery of cost management services from inception to completion. Sectors of focus particular in hospitality, commercial and data centers
  • The candidate will need to have PQS experience
  • Strong experience during the pre-contract stages in relation to cost planning / BOQ production

Cost Management:
  • Oversight of cost management on multiple capital projects including office, hospitality, hotel, healthcare, retail and industrial projects. Hospitality / Data centers project experience is preferable.
  • Develop budget estimates by performing accurate quantity takeoffs using plans and specifications, or conceptual information.
  • Review, interpret and accurately estimate the scope of assigned work as described in the project documents.
  • Apply value engineering techniques throughout the project.
  • Perform pricing research for local conditions and market studies for material and labor.
  • Provide contractor tender analysis sheets.
  • Ensure effective project control measures are designed and implemented for major projects including monthly reports, cashflow reports
  • Document forecasting assumptions and methodologies.
  • Provide periodic status reports and updates.
  • Assist in change management process. Review, estimate and reconcile change orders.
  • Assist Project Manager with communications of all changes, performance tracking, and general vendor communication.
  • Ensure all invoices and supporting documentation are compliant with the contracts and project requirements.
  • Review and develop construction cost budgets for feasibility Studies, Preliminary, Schematic, Design documents & Construction document budgets in support of a variety of construction projects
  • Participate in Project Review meetings as required.
  • Compare budget costs to benchmark pricing information, analyze quantities and scope items as well as assist in value engineering.
  • Provide support during general contractor and architect sourcing, while also participating in both the general contractor and architect interviews, bid levelling process, recommendation & award.
  • Compile project unit pricing and labor rates from contractors and ensure the contractors abide the rates throughout the project duration.
  • Enhance overall cost controls service delivery by increasing efficiency and improving processes
  • Support in developing and maintaining customers historical cost benchmark for various project types.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use and application of all project management technologies as required for assigned projects.
Minimum Required Education:
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in Quantity Surveying (QS).
  • SACQSP PrQS is mandatory / MRICS is beneficial as well
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Experienced in cost planning and BOQ production.
  • Minimum of Eight years of relevant and progressive work experience in cost management and project controls.
  • Ability to multi-task and work both in a team and independently.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and manage priorities.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to successfully communicate with architects, contractors, clients representatives, and team members.
  • Ability to assist with business development.
  • Ability to review and understand plans and specifications.
  • Experience working on numerous projects simultaneously.
  • A strong working knowledge of accounting and financial reporting, budgeting, scheduling and process as they relate to corporate real estate.
  • Highly organized with strong analytical skills.
  • Flexibility with work hours and travel as needed.
  • Ability to regularly communicate data to client and team to achieve project goals
  • Demonstrated ability to support business development initiatives as assigned or requested
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to interact with the customers executives, JLL executives.
  • Ability to successfully communicate with architects, engineers, contractors, clients representatives, and team members
  • Knowledge of estimating take off software (Dimension X and WinQS )
  • Advanced skill level in Excel and intermediate knowledge of the Microsoft office suite.
