Strategic research direction for the Geoinformatics programme in harmony with the ARCs Strategic Plan.
Undertake the development of new research projects which includes proper planning, design implementation, and financial control.
Monitoring and evaluation of research and technology development projects, and maintenance of scientific quality standards.
Postgraduate student supervision and research team leadership.
Seek new clients and develop proposals in collaboration with other researchers and technicians.
Valuate research needs, develop, plan and conduct research projects.
Undertake scientific networking, nationally and internationally.
Optimally utilize and supervise human resources allocated to relevant projects.
Conduct technology transfer activities related to Geoinformatics.
PhD in Geographical Information Systems (GIS)/Remote Sensing or PhD in Natural Sciences with a strong background in UAV/Drone work, Modelling/Statistics, Matlab/R/Python, GIS/Remote Sensing, Data Analysis and Crop Modelling.
Minimum of 5 years post-PhD experience.
Minimum of eight peer-reviewed publications.
The candidate must have a proven research background in agriculture and climate related disciplines.
The candidate should have previous experience with GIS/Remote Sensing, UAV/drone work, modelling/statistics, programming and crop modelling.
A proven track record of external income generation for research.
Ability to work with communities and discharge duties in a multi-disciplinary research team.
Willingness to travel away from home for intermediate periods to conduct fieldwork.
Good communication skills (written and verbal).
Valid drivers license (code 08/EB).
