The timeous processing of all salary related instructions onto the payroll system, to ensure that staff are
remunerated correctly in accordance with relevant policies and legislative requirements.KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
xc3xafaxc2xb7 Timeous verification and processing of salary instructions in accordance with relevant policies and
legislative requirements:
xc3xafaxc2xb7 To process Permanent appointments in line with University Policy and Conditions of Service.
xc3xafaxc2xb7 To process the termination of service for employees.
xc3xafaxc2xb7 To perform the retrospective correction of salaries (Rollbacks) ensuring the correct reporting on the ERP
system in line with policy and Conditions of Service
xc3xafaxc2xb7 To ensure the electronic short-term contract appointments are generated correctly onto the Payroll System
xc3xafaxc2xb7 To Generate monthly reports of the entire payroll and verify the accuracy of the data.
xc3xafaxc2xb7 Reconciliations of the relevant reports and payroll control accounts. In preparation for the timeous payment
to third parties, i.e. medical aid funds, pension/ provident funds etc.
xc3xafaxc2xb7 All queries need to be addressed in terms of the Payroll Departments Service Level Agreement and
standards set.
xc3xafaxc2xb7 Proper Categorizing and storing of documents in line with current legislative requirements.
xc3xafaxc2xb7 Continuous review of and update of operational procedure documents
xc3xafaxc2xb7 Review and update of Payroll procedures.CORE COMPETENCIES

xc3xafaxc2xb7 Management of information and saving and retrieval skills;
xc3xafaxc2xb7 Knowledge of ITS Financial systemREQUIREMENTS
In order to be considered for appointment to this position, candidates must possess:
xc3xafaxc2xb7 National Diploma or Degree in Payroll or Financial Accounting and a minimum of 5 Years experience within
a Payroll environment, in which extensive technical knowledge and experience has been gained.
OR
xc3xafaxc2xb7 A Senior Certificate (Matric) and 10 years experience within a Payroll environment, in which extensive
technical knowledge and experience has been gained.
xc3xafaxc2xb7 Working knowledge on the ITS Payroll system will be advantageous.Nelson Mandela University reserves the right not to make an appointment.
