The function of the Senior Service engineer is to provide expert hands-on technical expertise in all aspects of installation, commissioning, customer training, maintenance, fault-finding and customer support of Bruker Optics products as required.

Responsibilities

  • Installation of FT-IR / FT-NIR / Raman systems or accessories at customer facilities and ensure full functionality according to specifications.
  • Complete validation examination within 6 months from joining the company in order to be able to service and install systems at pharmaceutical companies.
  • Repair and maintenance of Bruker Optics products at customerxc2xb4s sites
  • Familiarize and train customers for operation with the equipment including application training and support
  • Secure customer acceptance following successful installation, training and repair
  • Serve as a supportive and effective communication link between the customer and company to ensure customer service satisfaction
  • Promote, quote and sell service contracts
  • Periodic servicing of the product at customerxc2xb4s location depending upon the service contract
  • Keep in contact with customers through phone or other means of correspondence to inquire if he needs any additional services
  • Solve any queries the customer might have about the product
  • Maintain records of all the field trips made and services offered in a proper documented form and according to company policies and processes
  • Complete all tasks, orders and administration as per local ISO-accreditation protocols and requirements.
  • Ensure that all SFDC and SAP documentation and processes are up to date and followed.
  • run Bruker Optics service business smoothly and grow it according to company targets and goals
  • Develop market strategies for service business growth
  • Ensure high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Improve the brand awareness of BOPT products in the region
  • Work and function in a team and promote and assist to build and maintain the team.
Qualifications
  • Qualification in electrical or electronic engineering, physics or a related discipline or be able to demonstrate a similar level of knowledge and skill gained by practical experience
  • Minimum 2 years work experience in diagnosing and repairing analytical instruments, scientific instruments, electromechanical and / or electronic equipment
  • Strong technical skills involving analytical instrumentation
  • Expertise in FT-IR spectroscopy, NIR , Raman technology, remote sensing, microscopy and laboratory organization is advantageous
  • Excellent customer focus with ability to reliably respond to enquiries, communicate and interact with customers
  • Strong verbal, written MS Office, computer, technical data, and networking communication and presentations skills, with ability to communicate complex technical issues in an easy to understand manner
  • Knowledge of SAP and sales force is of advantage
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to work independently and self-motivated, prioritize, multi-task, follow through, and meet deadlines within an entrepreneurial and customer-focused manner
The role is Johannesburg based with national and SubSahara responsibility and hence there will be extensive travel.
