Our client in the Engineering industry is currently looking for a Senior Traffic Engineer, in Pietermaritzburg, Kwa Zulu Natal.Responsibilities:

• Prepare quotations for standard Traffic projects, including pricing and methodology or assist on more complex quotations / tenders (not limited to traffic).
• Undertake traffic projects with limited guidance from supervisor, from inception to close out.
• Project Leader on traffic and transport planning projects.
• Project Manager on non-traffic projects.
• Attend meetings and write notes and reports.
• Produce and supervise the production of technical drawings, designs, reports and documents as directed.
• Carry out Contract administration or part-time site supervision, as required.
• Manage, train and mentor technical staff.
• Check all drawings, reports and documents produced in accordance with the Companys Quality Management Systems requirements as set out in the applicable work instructions and checklists.
• Management of projects to ensure that they are controlled, adhering to quality management systems requirements as set out in the applicable work instructions and checklists.
• Financial management of own projects and monitoring of performance and profitability and with regular liaison and reporting to line manager and Executive Manager.
• Marketing and project-related liaison with clients.
• Carry out site inspections and other assigned construction monitoring activities in accordance with the Companys Quality assurance.
• Prepare Traffic Technical Reports.
• Keep abreast with technology development and research in the field of traffic engineering.
• Industry participation and contribution through relevant Voluntary Associations, such as SAICE, SATC etc, which would involve writing articles for publications, writing technical papers and or presenting at conferences / symposia.
• Assist the Executive Manager: Transportation-KZN with business development activities in the private and public sectors within South Africa and Africa.
• Preparation of requests for proposals, expressions of interest, panel applications and tenders, and generate work for the company.
• Procure and manage specialist sub-service providers on projects.
• Contract admin on projects as and when required.

• BSc Eng (Civil) with professional registration as Pr Eng.
• 2 years Project Management experience.
• Good working knowledge of Traffic Study / TIA guidelines and processes.
• Geometric and pavement design experience would be advantageous.
• PrCPM / PMP would be advantageous.
• Computer literacy in MS Office, MS Projects, AutoCAD, SIDRA. Civil3D experience would be advantageous.
• Experience in demand modelling software, would be advantageous.
• Good administrative and report writing skills.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, but also as part of a dynamic team.
• Have a keen eye for detail and work accurately under pressure.
• Deadline driven.
• MEng Transportation Engineering will be advantageous.
• 7 - 12 years overall experience.
• 5 - 10 years Traffic Engineering experience.
• Experience with a range of Traffic studies, Transport Planning projects, TIAs, including mining, international and large, mixed-land use developments.
• Public Transport Planning and / or Rail Planning experience would be advantageous.
• Excellent leadership skills and a participative management style.
• Problem solver and innovative thinker.

• R1.2 R1.9 mil per annum.
