Role Purpose
The purpose of the Securities Officer role is to ensure the effective functioning of securities operations by monitoring and managing all securities-related processes. This role plays a crucial part in supporting the
Team Leader: Securities
in ensuring operational efficiency and compliance.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Matric (Grade 12) - Essential
Diploma in Finance, Investments, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred)
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years' experience in financial services, investments, asset management, or a related industry.
Strong knowledge of stockbroking and financial markets.
Duties & Responsibilities
Key Outputs
Settlements and Transfers
Monitor all controls within JSE regulations to ensure compliance.
Ensure settlements are completed accurately and within the appropriate settlement cycle.
Monitor securities lending to prevent short positions in client transactions that may affect the settlement cycle.
Process and monitor internal and external share transfers, ensuring correct instructions are received and processed.
Ensure accurate details are captured on paper-based listed and unlisted securities receipts and recorded in relevant systems.
Process reversals of settled trades (misdeals) post-settlement cycle.
Perform daily checks on ERD (Electronic Report Download) reports for accuracy and sign-off.
Reconcile differences between the JSE BDA and Momentum Securities' custodian.
Prepare and submit the monthly CSDP balancing report to the JSE.
Ensure securities are in the correct location.
Corporate Actions & Asset Servicing
Manage dividends and corporate events, ensuring Momentum Securities is up to date with ongoing developments.
Monitor and manage the settlement and trading of bonds and unit trusts.
Manually settle transactions related to Kruger Rands.
Process dividend journals and update cost prices daily.
Engage with clients regarding dividend queries, share sales, and other securities-related concerns.
Paper Scrip Management
Dematerialize share certificates.
Deliver and collect share certificates to and from the transfer secretary.
Arrange withdrawals from transfer secretaries.
Lodge lost scrip documentation and facilitate resolution.
Portfolio Management & Swift Administration
Copy Swift messages for the Nutcracker reconciliation process.
Obtain authorization from Portfolio Managers for portfolio movements.
Arrange transfer details between brokers and Computershare.
Ensure portfolio transfer instructions are settled accurately on the designated date.
Update the BDA system with portfolio transfer details.
