The SHE Controller's main responsibilities will be to:
1) Develop and implement SHE policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with local and national regulations.
2) Planning, implementing and overseeing company's employee safety at work. The main duty is to ensure that the company adheres to Occupational Health and Safety guidelines to reduce work-related injuries."
Focus Area 1
Safety: Health & Environment Managed
Manage and take responsibility for first aid procedures, IODs and other emergency procedures such as a fire drills; including employee first aid training
Design; Implement & Manage a SHE Management system complying with 18001 standards
Ensure compliance to all relevant Safety, Health & Environmental standards, acts & bylaws
Ensure overall compliance with Occupational Health & Safety Act 85 of 1993
Ensure all workplace hazards are identified and communicated to all staff.
Ensure all new employees and contractors are inducted on the SHE Programme
Ensure site procedures and work instructions are maintained, issued to staff and relevant staff training is conducted
Accountable to ensure that these safety risks are adequately addressed and to monitor audits/surveys/maintenance to ensure that fire and explosion risks are minimised
Own & drive the HIRA programme
Ownership of fire System: Sprinkler system, DCPs, Remrad, Fire Brigade Relationship
Own Employee Medical programme and SHE Induction programme
Coordinate and deal with health and safety committees, Department of Labour, government bodies and regulating agencies
Responsible for Workshop Safety (5s and review maintenance SOPs to ensure safe practices are followed)

Security
Manage day to day activities of security staff/company
Continuously optimise security procedures and policies
Own site alarm system
Manage Pest Control
Ensure the brewery and the depot is safeguarded against theft

Waste Management
Manage site waste management
Initiate a SHP waste recycling programme and drive continuous improvement
Reduce waste quantities
Continuously reduce waste management cost
Focus Area 4
Financial Metrics Managed
Manage annual H&S Budget
Stock takes of H&S consumables and PPE
Manage Waste Management Budget
Requirements of the role
Applicable H&S Background: BTech in Environmental Health or Environmental Management
SAMTRAC Course
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office
