Job Description


Fine Chemicals Corporation requires the services of a highly competent SHE Manager. To be considered for this position, candidates must fulfill the following requirements.JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Degree / B-Tech in either Environmental Management/ Environment Sciences or Engineering (Mechanical or Chemical).
  • Relevant SHE or SAMTRAC qualifications
  • ISO 45001 & ISO 14001 Implementation and auditing experience advantageous.
  • Minimum 5 years experience within SHE environment of which at least two should be in supervisory or management roles.
  • Experience in development, Implementation, and auditing of SHE Management Systems
  • Experience in the application of SHE Legislation (local, provincial, national).
  • SHE management experience in the chemical or pharmaceutical industry would be an advantage.
BASIC JOB FUNCTIONS (Brief Summary): * Drive the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the SHE Management System.
  • Manage and approve all facility SHE documentation.
  • Application of SHE Legislation (local, provincial, national) and ability to ensure compliance to legislation across operations.
  • Recording, analyzing, and reporting on SHE performance and sustainability indicators and trends to Senior Site Management and Aspen Group and to make recommendations for continual improvement.
  • Direct line management responsibility for +5 SHE employees.
  • Provide SHE input into change management, production upgrades / facility projects / new product hazard assessments / HAZOPS/ LOPA to ensure SHE legal compliance, process safety and reduction of SHE risks during construction and operation of new facilities.
  • Facilitate and maintain Risk Assessments for processes, facilities and materials for identification and implementation of all required SHE control measures.
  • Facilitate SHE incident and Near Miss management process and manage SHE CAPA System including monitoring close out of actions.
  • Manage the implementation of emergency procedures and plans and implement, monitor, and maintain the Business Continuity Program on site in alignment with Group requirements.
  • Coordination and participation with OH Medical practitioners in employee medical surveillance and industrial health and hygiene programs, healthcare clinic management, hazardous chemical exposure, workplace environment monitoring and reporting, and COID claim administration.

  • Results-driven and strong systems-oriented individual with good project management and communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret regulations and devise and implement appropriate control systems.
  • Ability to work independently and on own initiative with a high level of self-motivation.
  • Has a high work capacity and ability to prioritise and multi-task.
  • A demonstrated passion for OHSE coupled with good organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent reading and report-writing skills.
