Vacancy, SHEQ Officer, Johannesburg, PermanentReports to: General Manager: Technical and ComplianceManagerJob Purpose and SummaryThe purpose of this position will be for the SHEQ Officer to assist the General Manager Technical andcompliance to coordinate and monitor the implementation of the Company's Technical and Complianceprogram including the Health and Safety. Ensure that the company and its employees and stakeholderscomply with the requirements of legislation, compliance standards and other requirements by monitoringSHEQ compliance. Attend and report on Companys Safety performance in the SHEQ meetings. at safetymeetings and ensure statutory and regulatory compliance by conducting site audits.Key Performance AreasAssist with implementing a health and safety plan for the companies site and where the companieshold equipment on customers sites in conjunction with the Technical and Compliance Department.Ensure that the t key requirements of SANS codes, SAGA, SACGA, NERSA, PER and other legalrequirements as applicable to the company are implemented and monitored.Establish HAZCHEM and HAZOP requirements and implement requirements.Assist in the Implementation of MHI (submission of report to relevant local authorities/ Chief Inspectorand Provincial Director and any other body concerned) and EIA (Yearly Audits) requirements andrecommendations on all sites. Assist to establish all systems and ensure that all regulatory aspects relating to the activities of thecompanies are implemented and adhered to on site on an ongoing basis relating to pre-construction,construction, and operating phases.Assist to ensure that the companies and customers sites comply with all aspects required relating toEnvironmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Major Hazardous Installation (MHI) and Health and Safetyrequirements and that these requirements are always maintained and adhered to.Assist in ensuring that risk is managed through the organization and that change managementrequirements are adhered to.Assist in ensuring that the site compliers with security rulesAssist in ensuring the site emergency preparedness plan compliers with all relevant regulations, it isimplemented and monitored.Assist in Incident investigation and reporting. Conduct Health, Safety and technical audits at depots and customer sites as per the site audit planEnsure that SHEQ training material is developed, signed off and all staff and customers are trained.Compile and update manuals, work procedures and safe operating practices in conjunction with relevantdepartment (e.g., Operations).Implement and monitor Health and Safety / behavioral improvement program.Implement the SHEQ program across all departments within the organization.Comply with company regulations regarding any accidents involving staff members, company property,visitors, or customers on Company premises, and to immediately report to the Technical and ComplianceManager / Relevant 16.2 appointee.Assist organization with tender requirements.Assist with new site startups by ensuring that projects meet all approval requirements and are maintainedon an ongoing operating basis prior and during installation process. Ensure Projects department has completed the followingSite drawingsFire department approvalsCouncil, municipal approval were required,NERSA approvalsImplementation of MHIEIA submissions or exceptions if requiredElectrical approvalsAll COCs to be submitted to customers and on file at company on completion of a projectPresent and communicate Progress Reports and Status Update Reports on dedicated timelines tomanagement and customers.Ensure that all certification and compliances are adhered to at new installation and during construction.Ensure employee is kept up to date with the regulatory requirements. Incident investigations and reporting are updated as it happens.EQUIPMENT AND INSTALLATION COMPLIANCE/PROJECTSEquipment and installation compliance.Safety files are completed and presented to customers prior to installation, contractors starting on siteand updated files as projects progresses,Compile and update manuals, work procedures and safe operating practices for project installations andequipment.Update policies and procedures and task manuals.MEETINGSConduct SHE Committee Meetings (plan, scheduled and review) Coordinate/ Attend staff safety meetings.Attend meetings if and when required on behalf of the Company's SHEQ department - Managementmeetings, technical meetings, Steering Committee meetings (weekly, monthly, quarterly)Attend contractor meetings and meetings with landlords / property owners and report on outcomes(Kick-Off, Site Meetings)Schedule and share Health and Safety meetings with CNG Operation companies and workshops.INVESTIGATION AND CORRECTIVE ACTIONS REPORTINGINVESTIGATION AND CORRECTIVE ACTIONS REPORTINGInvestigate the root cause of SHE complaints put forward by staff members, customers clients andcontractors and report the result to the Technical and Compliance Manager.Coordinate and participate in the investigation of incidents, accidents and near misses.Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly SHE reports, statistics and presentations related to SHE performance. Report to the Technical and Compliance Manager, daily / weekly on corrective action taken byContractors and close out of NCR reports.Compile and submit investigation reports to the Technical and Compliance Manager.EMERGENCY PROCEDURESEnsure regular emergency response exercises and drills are conducted to ensure the highest level ofpreparedness in any emergency.Maintain records of such drills, providing recommendations for emergency response improvements.Supervise the regular inspection of firefighting, safety and emergency response equipment at sites andoffices.Assist in development and implementing of emergency response procedures and evacuation plans on siteand offices. Ensure that these plans are reviewed and updated regularlyEnsure that the emergency plans are communicated to staff and visitors and update registers on trainingand induction.Preferred Knowledge, Skills Education / Training and Experience Requirement(s):Health and Safety in a highly technical, complex industrial environment.Construction / project safety compliance.Ability to investigate incidences.ISO 45001:2018/14001:2015 ISO 9001:2015 MHI / EIA / AIARead, write reports and analyze information.Proficient and Microsoft OfficeQualifications and Experience4-5 years relevant experience in the SHEQ related fieldMatricSAMTRAC certificate or equivalent occupational SHE training or Diploma.Technical or Engineering (in chemistry/Mechanical) DiplomaQualification/experience in warehouse management advantageous.
