DescriptionPURPOSE OF THE JOB:To sample final product, receive and prepare all samples delivered to the Laboratory according to prescribed sample preparation proceduresJOB RESPONSIBILITIES:SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT AND QUALITY

• Comply with SHEQ requirements (SHEQ Toolbox)
• Participate in Risk Assessments based on external and internal influences
• Adhere to Behavioural Expectations
• Participate in formal SHEQ Audits
• Participate in Significant Incident Investigations

CUSTOMERS

• Ensure Customer Satisfaction

BUSINESS PROCESSES

• Physical receiving of samples
• Drying, crushing, riffling and milling of samples as per works instructions
• Logging and receiving of samples on LIMS
• Marking and labelling of sample tags and sample containers
• Storing of samples according to specifications and colour codes
• Dispose of redundant ore samples
• Perform friability analyses on geological samples when required
• Perform sieve sizing analyses on samples
• Perform moisture analyses on samples
• Prepare pressed sample discs for XRF analyses
• Cleaning of the workplace to ensure that sample contamination does not take place and that the sample preparation process can be completed in a professional and appropriately scientific manner

EQUIPMENT AND OTHER AUTHORITYTrained and authorised to:

RequirementsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:Minimum qualifications:

• Grade 12/ N3 - that is equivalent to a Grade 12/Matric (4x Technical / Business Subjects and 2x Languages)
• Basic literacy and numeracy
• Basic computer skills

Knowledge:

• LIMS
• ISO 17025 system
• Principles of sampling
