Shift Engineer
Job Description
Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on all mechanical and electrical systems, including engines, generators, HVAC systems, and plumbing systems- Monitor and maintain the ship's fuel, water, and oil levels- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and electrical issues- Coordinate with other departments to ensure timely completion of maintenance tasks- Keep detailed records of all maintenance and repair work- Follow all safety protocols and procedures- Train and supervise junior engineering staff- Assist with the installation and commissioning of new equipment- Participate in emergency drills and respond to emergencies as neededQualifications:- High school diploma or equivalent- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Shift Engineer on a cruise ship or similar vessel- Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and diagrams- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills- Strong communication and interpersonal skills- Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment- Flexibility to work long hours and shifts as needed
