Job title: Shift Supervisor xe2x80x93 Bottling

Our client, one of the largest wine cellars in the Stellenbosch area, is looking for Shift Supervisor xe2x80x93 ( Bottling) to join their team.

Job Overview:

Oversees the operations of the shift within the bottling facility, ensuring adherence to the weekly production plan in order to meet production and efficiency goals in accordance with product specifications, quality standards, and effective leadership.

Three shifts of 8 hours each (work on Saturdays is to be expected)

  • 06:45 xe2x80x93 15:00
  • 14:45 xe2x80x93 23:00
  • 22:45 xe2x80x93 07:00
Duties and Responsibilities: * Raw Materials
  • Ensures all dry goods, consumables and wine received are correct in terms of quantity, quality and product specifications and all quality tests are carried out before commencement of production runs.
  • Confirms with operators that the correct dry goods have been issued for a specified product as per the product specifications set out in the quality control pack of documentation.
  • Informs the Production Controller of incorrect or shortages of raw materials received and liaises with the relevant parties to rectify the problem if necessary.
  • Bottling Processes
  • Executes the daily/weekly production plan, ensuring the correct product is produced in the required production time and in line with required quality standards and processing procedures.
  • Allocates work in terms of machine and labour availability and informs Production Controller of any labour shortages on shift.
  • Applies problem solving techniques when required to ensure maximum production efficiencies.
  • Checks and ensures sanitation of bottling lines are effective as per set procedures
  • Conducts regular checks to confirm that all product specification checks are completed as per quality control documentation pack and that they have been verified by the Shift Quality Controller
  • Ensures waste is maintained within required standards by conducting regular checks
  • Completes the shift log book, ensuring all production issues and action taken is recorded accordingly.
  • Machines & Equipment
  • Carries out checks to ensure correct and optimal operation of all equipment and machinery and that all company tools are maintained, accounted for and kept in a safe place.
  • Checks that the calibration and set up of machinery meets required standards and specifications
  • Ensures Cork/Screw cap applications are correct as per set specifications
  • Carries out minor maintenance work and lubricating of machinery when necessary
  • Reports any major machine problems to the maintenance department by completing a job card and liaising with the Maintenance Supervisor on work requirements and allocation of job priorities
  • People Management
  • Supervises activities of employees and maintains discipline, ensuring adherence to company policy in regard to unauthorized absence, timekeeping, work performance and behavior.
  • Provides employees with guidance in handling problems and in resolving grievances or disputes.
  • Identifies training needs and provides training with regards to bottling processing aspects
  • Conducts performance appraisals and reviews and contributes to the development of individuals by initiating training and development programs
  • Plans and liaises with employees on annual leave allocations, minimizing production disruptions
  • Quality Management System
  • Adheres to and ensures subordinates comply to QMS standards and procedures
  • Follows QMS protocol as described by QMS procedures
  • Ensures that the security of the bottling premises is intact for responsible areas
  • Acts as a QMS Auditor and participates in various quality seminars
  • Health, Safety and Housekeeping
  • Controls CCPs including Glass Particles, Integrity Testing, Ozone Treatment, Chemical Residue
  • Ensures housekeeping is kept in order and meets required standards on entire plant as well as general maintenance and all areas of responsibility are clean and neat.
  • Ensures compliance with company and statutory H&S policies and procedures
Knowledge and expertise:
  • Two years Supervisory experience in similar environment
  • Matric/Grade 12
  • Product and production process knowledge
  • Ability to troubleshoot and rectify machine instability or breakdowns
  • Knowledge of HACCP and in depth knowledge of HACCP Plan for glass and Bib filling
  • Ability to work shifts and under pressure to meet deadlines Strong interpersonal and communication skills
The position is in-office and in shifts:

Location: Stellenbosch

Salary: R18 000-R20 000 CTC depending on experience

Starting date: As soon as possible.
