Attend to all aspects of vessel planning and operations in line with required ships agency standards
Sound commercial knowledge regarding Port Agency Operations
Sound knowledge of TPT TOG (Terminal Operating Guidelines) and TNPA Berthing Policy
Submit reports when required and meet deadlines
Attend to vessel documentation and office admin, in accordance with customer requirements, S.O.P.s and Company Policy and conduct S.O.P. educational workshops
Identifies opportunities internally with focus on service quality and continual improvement
Uses IT for controlling and improving work results
Establish and maintain effective relationships with superiors and colleagues
Build relationships with customers
Attend to Principals requirements with determination and eagerness
Maintain a high-profile on board vessels
Manage vessel funding, cash flow and port disbursement requirements in line with all financial policies and internal controls
Manage month end financial requirements for the Branch
Produce detailed and accurate management reports
Manage appointment, performance, invoicing and payment of sub-contractors
Manage and monitor all team functions including expenditure
Ability to look at logistics chains and form synergies ensuring that the entire operation is effective and efficient - not only the ship side
Maximise team efficiencies, spirit and participation
Marketing - gathering of trends and cargoes moving through the port and look for new business opportunities
Must be prepared to travel both local and international.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Minimum of a matric (Grade 12) level of education
ICS qualification or equivalent, Marketing, Management Diplomas / Certificates
Minimum of 10 years ships agency industry experience is required
Superior management, specifically people skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Understanding of INCO terms and market dynamics
Sound knowledge of all facets of Ships Agency
Ability to implement company policies and SOPs
Hand on management style with strong wharf presence
Superior level of English Literacy and Numeric ability essential
