Job Description


Stefanutti Stocks is looking for an enthusiastic and specialized Site Agent to join our team. Applicants should have appropriate experience, across a range of projects, with a medium to large construction company. Candidates should be self-starting and highly motivated, with the ability to operate efficiently in a fast-paced environment. The best candidates will be detailed and organized team players with demonstrated delivery in high pressure situations. The position implements the construction project against time, quality and cost standards.Key Performance Areas:Planning & programme implementation

  • Determine in consultation with the Contract Manager, the targets, sequence, method, resources and programme for the allocated work according to allowable.
  • Discuss matters such as work procedures, complaints and construction problems with relevant personnel
  • Delegate and ensure implementation of plans and job specifications, and provide advise in this regard
  • Timeously identify and report discrepancies/omissions on plans to the Contract Manager
  • Scrutinize the plans/drawings and schedule any items to be ordered for the Architects approval
  • Monitor and measure progress in respect of programme and timeously implement corrective action where progress does not meet expectations and targets.
Site administration and management
  • Implement company policy and procedural requirements for Site costing. Regularly follow-up labour, plan and materials requirements and based on reconciliation of plans ensure all orders are timeously placed for labour, Plant material and Sub-contractors
  • Timeously requisition consumables and minor Plant against allowable
  • Receives materials and Plant and reconcile deliveries against orders to ensure correct quantity and quality of materials delivered
  • Timeously action short orders to avoid work stoppages
  • Call for Supply and Bulk orders
  • Undertake regular follow up with subordinate site staff in respect of:
o Detailed planning for the next period
o Staff responsibilities and movements on site
o Appointed sub-contractors and specific sub-contract requirements
o Health and safety issues and
o General administrationInformation and records management
  • Prepare and submit reports to the relevant manager in respect of areas such as work progress, costs and scheduling
  • Compile up to date and accurate Site records in consultation with Quantity Surveyor including, Day works, sub-contractor contra charges, etc for approval and authorisation by the relevant QS
  • Ensure a marked-up programme which display work progress is displayed in the site office at all times
  • Maintain a daily diary
  • Ensure appropriate and up to date record keeping and reporting by subordinate staff
Setting out and surveying
  • Set up and maintain the survey datum levels, grids and co-ordinates
SHEQ management
  • Implement the Project Quality plan in accordance with project and policy requirements and monitor and ensure achievement of quality standards of drawings and specifications
  • Oversee and monitor the implementation of the Quality control plans of all sub-contractors reflected on the Sub-contractors list
  • Ensure reporting and correction of non-conformance
Safety management and compliance
  • Maintain and implement company and legal requirements for site safety, including but not limited to the safety of working conditions, plant and equipment, as well as the issue of safety equipment and clothing.
  • Ensure timeously corrective action is taken in respect of non-compliance
Human Resources Management
  • Guide, lead and direct subordinate staff so that they are able to achieve the objectives and targets set for them in respect of the quality and quantity of work carried out (inclusive of the work carried out by sub-contractors)
  • Ensure immediate subordinates and sub-contractors understand the programme and contract requirements to ensure adherence to required method, specifications and sequence of activities
  • Appropriately allocate tasks and targets according to the priorities as specified by the Contract Manager
  • Ensure subordinates have all the relevant and necessary information and resources to understand instructions and execute their work
  • Ensure that labour productivity is maximised and wastage is minimised
  • Monitor and manage performance of subordinate staff in compliance with the Performance Management policy and processes
  • Coach, mentor and develop staff as appropriate to improve performance and to enhance likelihood of career growth in subordinate staff
  • Practise sound labour relations within the approved conditions of service with regard to staff
  • Ensure compliance of subordinate staff to Stocks policies, procedures and practices
  • Maintain a critical mass of staff ensuring effective staff retention
  • Establish a positive work context for subordinate staff to build motivation and team spirit
  • Ensure subordinates adhere to disciplinary rules and regulation of company and take corrective action if necessary
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelors Engineering
  • B-Tech
  • National Diploma Civil Engineer
  • NQF 5 Qualification
  • Must be SACPCMP professionally registered or in the process of registering (pending professional interview).
  • At least 5 years related experience in the construction / engineering environment
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects.
Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of construction processes
