Job Description


  • Assist with planning & programming of the project by measuring & evaluation operational performance, processes, resources in order to enhance efficiencies (Subcontractors, Plant, Formwork, Labour, Strategic materials)
  • Develop and maintain equipment preservation registers, ensuring the longevity and functionality of equipment.
  • Maintain a detailed site diary, recording daily events and activities, facilitating process evaluation and identifying opportunities for productivity improvement.
  • Exceed or achieve the site financial targets (Allowable & Productivity)
  • Adherence and implementation of policies, procedures, statutory law and regulations (Engineering & SHEQ)
  • Implement a high standard on the site to meet and exceed client satisfaction (Project milestones, Culture, Quality & Professionalism)
  • Be effective in understanding & implementing problem solving decisions for the site.
  • Demonstrate detailed knowledge and expertise in relation to job, readily absorb new technical information and keep up to date in the field of engineering.
  • Establish clear priorities, schedule activities to ensure optimum use of time and resources, monitors performance against objectives.
  • Produce detailed project plans in which objectives are clearly defined and action steps for achieving them are clearly specified.
  • Knowledgeable about financial and commercial matters, focus on cost, profits, markets, business opportunities.
  • Manage all quality assurance and quality control procedures relevant to the Mechanical Scope of works.
  • National Diploma mechanical engineering or equivalent
  • Registration with SACPCMP or ECSA would be an advantage.
  • Minimum of 5 years working experience in the construction industry specifically in the Water & Wastewater treatment segment of which 2 years working experience in mechanical engineering.
  • Working experience with product lifecycle management (PLM), finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD)
  • Familiarity with 2D or 3D engineering design and manufacturing tools (e.g., AutoCAD, ProE or other)
  • Adequate knowledge of engineering analysis tools (ANSYS, ProMechanica or similar)
  • Mathematical computing and analysis tools knowledge (Matlab, Excel, LabView etc)
  • Solid understanding of core concepts including mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, materials science etc.
  • Creativity and analytical skills
  • Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner
  • Technical writing skills
  • Must have a valid drivers license
