Main Purpose of the
job:

xc3xafxc6x92xcbx9c The SSG Project Manager position takes a full responsibility to
submit Projects proposals and ensure the successful
implementation of all Projects assigned to Extension Services
within the three THL Mill areas. The primary function is to increase
cane production and ensure the sustainability of small-scale
growers through implementation of various cane development
initiatives. This is a strategic imperative of the company.
xc3xafxc6x92xcbx9c The key functions will include ensuring best project management
and agronomic practices, cane quality improvement initiatives,
coordinating of grower trainings, support cane removal activities
and compliance with legal requirements by growers/cooperatives.
xc3xafxc6x92xcbx9c To develop and submit various Strategic Project proposals to
project sponsors as identified by Extension Department
xc3xafxc6x92xcbx9c To ensure that the planned cane development project initiatives
are implemented accordingly and remain sustainable. The back to
basic principle of farming is vitally important, which includes soil
sampling to determine crop nutrients required, correct land
preparation before planting and weed control to promote vertical
growth.
xc3xafxc6x92xcbx9c To ensure that administrative and financial records of various
projects implemented by Extension Team are kept to date. This
will be done through proper planning for resources required,
implementation of the project as per agreed specifications and
payments done to all beneficiaries within the budget as per project
scope.
xc3xafxc6x92xcbx9c To compile projects operational reports and Close Out Reports as
agreed within the programme sponsor
xc3xafxc6x92xcbx9c To monitor the post project implementation phase through project
Monitoring & Evaluation activities, including site visits
xc3xafxc6x92xcbx9c To assist the Extension HOD on various Department initiatives
aimed at improvement of services provided to the grower
community.
xc3xafxc6x92xcbx9c Contribute to the compilation of Agric Operations Social Report
annually by ensuring that the Extension Services foot print is
recorded accordingly. This will be achieved by ensuring that
cooperates data base(number of cooperatives, beneficiary lists,
area under cane, crop stats, legal status etc) is always kept up to
date.

Qualifications &
Experience:

xc3xafxc6x92xcbx9cA minimum of Bachelor of Science Degree in Agric/ 4 years
Agriculture related Tertiary qualification
xc3xafxc6x92xcbx9c A Project Management Qualification will be an added advantage
xc3xafxc6x92xcbx9c Senior Certificate in Sugarcane from SASRI
xc3xafxc6x92xcbx9c Training on Management courses
xc3xafxc6x92xcbx9c SHE Training
xc3xafxc6x92xcbx9c More than 8 years of work experience in Sugar Industry, 3 years
must have been spent on project management.
xc3xafxc6x92xcbx9c Must be to communicate both in English and isiZulu as both
languages are required to engage with multiple stakeholders
and growers in communal areas respectively.
xc3xafxc6x92xcbx9c Good Report writing skills and comfortable working with
numbers
xc3xafxc6x92xcbx9c Proven record of Project Management experience with Portfolio
of evidence
xc3xafxc6x92xcbx9c A valid Drivers License with driving experience
xc3xafxc6x92xcbx9c Be Computer literate, with Intermediate/Advance Excel
Spreadsheets & Power Point Presentation skills
