Social Media Copywriter

What You'll Do:

Lead with Ideas - Craft sharp, engaging, and unexpected social-first copy that connects with audiences in fresh and meaningful ways. Turn Data into Creativity - Work closely with the insights team to interpret social data and transform it into compelling creative strategies. Mentor & Inspire - Guide junior teams, helping them refine their skills and push their creative boundaries. Stay Ahead of Trends - Keep your finger on the pulse of digital culture, memes, and emerging social media behaviours locally and globally. Get Stuck In - Be hands-on, whether it's brainstorming a reactive post, filming content on the go, or making the most of a scrappy budget. Engage in Social Listening - Track conversations, cultural shifts, and trending topics to spot real-time opportunities. Think Beyond the Post - Develop social-first campaigns, activations, and brand moments that drive engagement and conversation. Collaborate & Execute - Work closely with designers, strategists, and community teams to bring ideas to life in bold, innovative ways.

What You Bring:

5+ years of experience in social media copywriting or a related role. A proven track record of creating standout social content that gets noticed. The ability to adapt your tone and style to different brands and platforms. Good understanding of social media KPIs A passion for social media--you're always online, always absorbing, and always experimenting. Experience mentoring and guiding junior creatives. A good command of the English language (both verbal and written) Vernacular: ability to write in isiXhosa & isiZulu will be advantageous A fearless, hands-on approach--you don't wait for things to happen, you make them happen. A resourceful mindset--you know how to stretch a small budget into something big. Strong storytelling skills and a love for conceptual thinking. Strong multitasking skills (ability to work on more than one brief at any given time) Strong time management skills Strong administrative and organisational skills The ability to move fast, think on your feet, and embrace the chaos of real-time content creation.
