To operate ultrasound equipment to acquire, interpret and selectively record anatomical images, physical data, and real-time physiological information for medical diagnostic purposes in conjunction with other medical practitioners

Key performance areas:Performance of Sonography
Determining the number of fetuses and obtaining measurements of standard fetal planes - these measurements include BPD, HC, AC, CRL, and FL
Calculating the gestational age, based on various fatal biometry data and detecting or ruling out an abnormal position of the placenta (low lying or praevia in relation to the internal os), with criteria that are appropriately gestational-age dependent
Assessing liquor volume qualitatively and detecting oligo- as well as polyhydramnios
Detecting significant congenital anomalies and/or chromosomal markers, as they are generally visible on the recommended standard biometry planes
Assessment of the fetal anatomy as a screening procedure in pregnancies at low risk of fetal anomaly
Equipment use and maintenance
Conduct routine daily inspection of equipment and quality assurance procedures, reporting any deficiencies or malfunction to the appropriate manager
Take responsibility for keeping the department in general and specifically the work area, clean, tidy, and safe
Ensure effective and economic use of resources and report all occurrences of defects that may affect health and safety
Quality assessment/quality improvement
Ensure that the sonography examination results meet the SOP and Unit standards for Quality Assurance before findings are released for interpretation
Work with the appropriate staff to ensure quality patient care
Administration
Recording and regularly submitting statistics on ultrasounds performed including recording of basic exclusionary criteria for maternal vaccine trials

Required minimum education and training:
National Diploma in Diagnostic Radiography (Ultrasound)/ Bachelor of Technology in Radiograph/ Bachelors Degree in Radiography
Required minimum work experience:
Minimum 2 years working experience as a Sonographer
Experience with conducting fetal anatomy scans is compulsory
Desirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities:
Advanced computer literacy
Report writing and Attention to detail
Willingness to work extended hours
Willingness to travel
Team player
Research background and GCP will be advantageous
