Job Description
Job SummaryQualifications and Experience:
- An NQF level 8 qualification in Space Science, Astronomy, Education, Science Communication, or a related field.
- A Masters degree is an advantage.
- A valid drivers licence.
- A minimum of 5 years experience as a trainer/ educator in a scientific space institution.
- Demonstrated experience leading a diverse team.
- Demonstrated experience in educational program development and delivery, particularly in space science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
- Knowledge of space science concepts and the ability to communicate them effectively to diverse audiences.
- Excellent organisational and project management skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in using digital tools and social media for educational purposes.
- Background in creating multimedia educational content.
- Creative and innovative thinking with strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience working with diverse communities and underrepresented groups in STEM.
- Familiarity with informal education settings such as planetariums, science centres, or museums.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required for events and programs.
- The role requires travel to various locations for outreach events and programs.
- Ability to lift and transport materials and equipment for events and activities.
