In South Africa, we have mining operations in the Northern Cape province, as well as a head office in Gauteng, and a port operation in Saldanha Bay, Western Cape.Guided by our purpose and our values, we enable both high performance and purposeful action as we aim to re-imagine mining to improve people's lives", delivering the metals and minerals that make modern life possible.As Specialist CE Portfolio you will provide services as required and your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Develop and implement strategies for the efficient allocation of capital across various projects within the mining portfolio. This involves analysing project economics, risk assessments, and prioritising investments to maximize returns.
  • Compile and disseminate comprehensive reports on performance metrics, budget adherence, risk assessment, stakeholder communications, and compliance status to facilitate informed decision-making and ensure transparency in capital expenditure management within the mining project environment.
  • Work with project teams to develop accurate and realistic budgets and forecasts for capital expenditures. Monitor spending against budgeted amounts and identify variances for corrective action.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve capital expenditure processes to streamline workflows, reduce waste, and increase efficiency. This might involve implementing best practices, standardising procedures, and leveraging technology solutions.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with capital projects, including cost overruns, schedule delays, regulatory compliance, and safety hazards. Develop risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans to minimize potential disruptions.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor the performance of capital projects. Track progress against targets, identify trends, and provide regular reports to stakeholders on project performance.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders, including project managers, finance teams, senior management, and external partners, to communicate capital expenditure plans, status updates, and strategic objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and industry regulations, governing capital projects in the mining sector. Maintain proper documentation and adhere to governance frameworks.
  • Provide training and support to project teams and stakeholders on capital expenditure processes, tools, and methodologies. Promote a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
  • Actively seek opportunities for innovation and optimization to drive continuous improvement in capital expenditure management practices. Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.
This role is in the Kumba Projects department at a Band 6 level reporting to Section Manager Project Control & Capital Excellence (CE) Projects.Qualifications
  • Relevant Finance/Commercial B- degree (NQF7)
  • SA Drivers Licence
Experience
  • Possess a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, ideally including 3 years of involvement in Projects and Operations.
  • Show familiarity with Project Management and Project Planning principles.
  • Demonstrate substantial expertise in Financial Reporting within a Project context.
  • Exhibit proficiency in data analysis and processing using Excel.
  • Display competence in report writing and presenting data in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Have prior involvement in consolidations, interim, and year-end reporting processes.
  • Demonstrate experience in analysing and benchmarking financial and business data.
  • Have a history of driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Possess experience specifically within the mining industry.
