Responsibilities of the Role

These positions are expected to contribute to and deliver business processes or detailed technology solutions, in a self-managed and target oriented manner, and thus contributes to team results. Positions focusing on analyzing, developing, testing or implementing processes, technologies and systems in their specific field of expertise, from first principles. Targets are short to medium term (best to be characterized as milestones), and achievements are monitored. They may provide functional advice to and integrate services of operational staff or semi-professional colleagues. Checks the possibilities for technical realization regarding the requirements. Drafts the technical realization of the requirements within the technical discipline. Dimensions elements, components, or software by calculation or by their specification according to the requirements and, if necessary, documents the required technical proofs. Acts as a specialized know-how owner for a technical discipline. May cooperate with specialists of other disciplines or faculties, may coordinate technical interfaces.

Attributes and skills

Good Communication skills Be familiar with CENELEC, SIL4 and South African train operating rules. Have Know-How on safety systems, safety principles, signaling and signaling sub systems. Collaborate in a software engineering environment in terms of writing new and debugging of legacy system source code. Provide specialized guidance/training support to operational, technical and maintenance staff

Qualification and Experience:

5+ years of relevant work experience. Ndip in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent). Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical drawings and integrating with software environment. Experience with C# and visual basic programming languages. Experience with Commuter Information Systems and Strong experience configuration and development of functionality and interfacing to other systems. Familiar with Train Planning and Operations Management systems. Specialize in TFR Remote Control System (CS90) including System Architecture design, configuration, fault finding, testing and commissioning. Knowledge on the Basic principles of Spoorplan Mk1b and other types of relay and hybrid interlockings. Experience on configuration test and commissioning of Level Crossing systems. Proven experience in PLC programming and performing maintenance tasks.
