In South Africa, we have mining operations in the Northern Cape province, as well as a head office in Gauteng, and a port operation in Saldanha Bay, Western Cape.Guided by our purpose and our values, we enable both high performance and purposeful action as we aim to re-imagine mining to improve people's lives", delivering the metals and minerals that make modern life possible.As the Specialist Technical Accountant, you will provide services as required and your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

• Consistently apply Safety and Health principles in all team interactions and take personal responsibility for the safety of self and others to ensure zero harm and elimination of fatalities.
• Monitor, research and share developments in financial accounting and reporting, especially regarding the IFRS.
• Drive integrating new standards and policies into existing procedures and systems.
• Ensure compliance with the latest approved accounting and reporting regime (Kumba and Group), regulations and legislation.
• Evaluate and assess the implications for internal accounting and reporting processes and prepare recommendations for developed/obtained solutions and proposed system, policies, and procedure changes.
• Propose projects to automate and standardise transactional accounting throughout Kumba. Drive them once approved.
• Prepare group and company financial statements and related reports for the group entities.
• Reporting significant accounting matters to the Audit Committee and Anglo American.
• Use data analytics to derive insights from financial data to inform decision-making and identify trends.

This role is in Finance (FIN) at a Band 6 level reporting to the Financial Reporting Manager.Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent
• NQF 7 Degree in Finance/Commercial/Business Accounting/Economics
• NQF 8 Postgraduate Degree in Finance/Commercial/Business Accounting/Economics is preferred
• CA (SA) registered professional
• Valid SA Drivers licence

Experience

• 6-8 years of experience in Accounting, preferably gained from a corporate environment within a mining/resources company.
• Awareness of how accounting processes interface with and impact other teams within the Finance department.
• Proficiency in preparing consolidated financial statements accurately and efficiently.
• In-depth understanding of complex commercial and technical accounting issues and a firm grasp of IFRS.
• Familiarity with financial systems, such as SAP and HFM, and a solid understanding of financial controls.
• Operational knowledge within the mining industry is considered an asset.
• Experience collaborating with other functional disciplines to deliver technical accounting and taxation solutions (advantageous).
