Specialist Technical Product Owner (Contract) (Remote) Product/Project management
Cape Town - Western Cape ~ Johannesburg - Gauteng ~ Durban - KwaZulu Natal ~ RemoteENVIRONMENT:SPEARHEAD the implementation of their digital assets and banking solutions within the CIB banking sector as the next Specialist Technical Product Owner sought by a dynamic Joburg-based Software Solutions Provider. This is a hands-on role requiring the ability to deeply understand both business and technical aspects, drive the product roadmap, and ensure technical soundness throughout the product lifecycle. This position is ideal for someone who is methodical, ready to do the hard yards, motivated, and passionate about the impact their work can have. Please note this is a 12-month contract.DUTIES:

• Requirement Management: Gather and prioritize requirements from Operations, Treasury, Finance, Management, and Compliance teams, translating them into actionable product goals.
• User Engagement: Understand user workflows, identify challenges and dependencies, provide training for optimal system use, and identify inefficiencies in product processes.
• Architecture Definition/Refinement: Play a key role in refining the architectural target state as new requirements emerge and communicate any inconsistencies to stakeholders.
• Agile Project Management: Maintain a prioritized backlog in line with sprint-based methodologies and drive the team to meet delivery targets.
• Collaborate with Developers, Blockchain Architects, and Technical Analysts to define product features and detailed user stories.
• Ensure all user stories include clear acceptance criteria, with an emphasis on technical detail such as APIs, smart contract interactions, and Backend systems.
• Break down epics into user stories that include technical details and prioritise them based on business value and technical complexity.
• Be deeply involved in the technical aspects of the Development lifecycle, from story development to ensuring Blockchain integration (e.g., Solidity for smart contracts or Chainlink oracles for external data feeds).
• Work closely with QA and DevOps to ensure testing and deployment strategies meet technical standards.
• Be involved in code reviews, technical architecture discussions, and detailed problem-solving to help the team deliver high-quality products.

REQUIREMENTS:Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business, Computer Science or a related field preferred.

Experience/Skills

• Minimum 5 years of Technical Product Ownership experience in fintech, banking, payments, startups, or digital asset environments (a must).
• Deep knowledge and understanding in FinTech, payments, or middle-office banking systems is essential.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, software development, and Agile methodologies is required.
• Minimum 2 years of strong experience at an advanced level, with Oracle Modules and Blockchain Integration.
• A keen interest in emerging technology is a plus.
