Kumba Iron Ore

We produce high-grade iron ore, the key component in steel widely used in construction and manufacturing across the world. Our activities include all aspects - exploration; mining; processing and blending; shipping; marketing and selling. In South Africa, we have mining operations in the Northern Cape province, as well as a head office in Gauteng, and a port operation in Saldanha Bay, Western Cape.

As Specialist Intelligence and Investigations you will provide services as required and your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Oversee the intelligence collection processes
  • Review risk and translate into intelligence requirements
  • Define intelligence requirements and update continuously
  • Provide expert intelligence input to senior leadership in the form of verbal and written briefings
  • Drive the use of best practices to improve intelligence practices continually
  • Liaise with group security intelligence and other external partners
  • Conduct change management and communication program to onboard security function and other relevant Kumba functions (e.g., Corporate Affairs and P&O), with support of Principal Investigations and Intelligence
  • Manage analysis reports/dashboards for intelligence users (e.g., other AA functions, Group Security)
  • Investigate Ethics Committee cases that are highly sensitive and could cause severe reputational damage to KIO
  • Manage and lead a team of investigators, including contracted/outsourced at HO as well as all other Kumba sites
  • Support the Manager Security Services to prevent the growing threat of industrial espionage and illegal eavesdropping and surveillance
  • Enable the company, its employees and other stakeholders to carry out business free from illicit threats and unlawful interference
  • Monitor Exploration, Mining, Process and in-transit (on roads, air space and across borders)
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements by conducting market analysis, networking, and international and local benchmarking
  • Ensure all businesses comply with corporate governance and policies, statutory, legal and other requirements
This role is in Safety, Health and Environment at a Band 6 level reporting to Principal Security & Intelligence.

  • Diploma or Degree in Forensic investigations or equivalent
  • Drivers License
Experience
  • Project management fundamentals
  • New technologies and their impact on intelligence activities
  • Intelligence tools and techniques applicable
  • Business acumen and commercial drivers of site performance and the impact of disruption on Kumba's operations
  • Ability to produce detailed written reports timeously
