Our focuses on womens cancer prevention research within the Clinical HIV Research Unit, a division of Wits Health Consortium
We are looking for an experienced Study Coordinator who will work to implement several clinical research projects within a womens health research program
S/he will coordinate all aspects of participant recruitment, screening, enrollment, and retention to ensure study targets are met and study procedures are being conducted in accordance with research protocols
S/he will supervise research nurses, research assistants, laboratory assistants, and clinic-based recruiters
S/he will also oversee procurement and inventory management for the projects
Location:
Helen Joseph Hospital, Johannesburg
Key performance areas:
Oversee the day-to-day implementation of clinical research projects under the guidance of the relevant PIs and investigators
Assist with the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and other study tools
Assist with preparation of regulatory submissions to ethics committees and other regulatory agencies, as needed
Coordinate all aspects of participant recruitment, informed consent, screening, enrollment, and retention
Coordinate all aspects of specimen collection, testing, and results reporting
Assist with all aspects of data collection, quality control, reporting and storage
Supervise research nurses, research assistants, laboratory assistants, and clinic-based recruiters
Oversee procurement and inventory management for the study clinic
Prepare research-related reports/presentations, as requested
Required minimum education and training:
Professional Nurse (or similar) and formal training or experience necessary to coordinate clinical research
Required minimum work experience and abilities:
Registration with the South African Nurses Council
At least three years of experience coordinating clinical research
At least five years of experience providing clinical care, preferably womens sexual and reproductive health services (e.g., Pap smear screening, STI screening, family planning)
Spoken and written fluency in English and IsiZulu or Sesotho
Training in good clinical practice
A can-do attitude and ability to work independently
Good problem-solving skills
Good organizational, management, and communications skills
Good computer literacy, writing, and presentation skills
Desirable additional education, work experience, and abilities:
Clinical experience providing womens sexual and reproductive health services (e.g., Pap smear screening, STI screening, family planning)
Experience managing research staff
Familiarity with regulatory procedures for research conducted in South Africa
Willingness to work overtime/weekends, as needed
